- Join us as host Elissa Miller talks with some of the folks behind the LGBTQ History Museum of Central Florida: President Alexis Rodriguez, Vice President Nikki Fragala Barnes, and Treasurer Martha Brenckle. We’re discussing everything from what it takes to run a museum, to curating exhibits and galleries that exist primarily online, to highlighting some figures from Central Florida’s history.
- You can find out more about the LGBTQ History Museum of Central Florida via their website http://www.floridalgbtqmuseum.org/. You can also find them on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Instagram. To contact them, whether for volunteering or to donate to the collection, send them an email at floridalgbtqmuseum@gmail.com.
- A note about language: Language and terms used to describe identity in the LBGTQ+ community have changed over time. When talking about LGBTQ+ folks in a historical context, we have done our best to use the terms those individuals would have used to describe themselves. Various versions of the LGBTQ+ acronym and the term “queer” are also used throughout this episode to describe the community as a whole.
