Join Dr. Santiago Guerra as he interviews In Her Bones playwright Jessica Kahkoska and play director Rebecca Martinez. In Her Bones premieres February 13, 2025 and runs through March 2, 2025 at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center.

In Her Bones explores the complicated legacy of crypto-Judaism in the Southwest, illuminating an unlikely tale of secrecy, faith, fear, and how we pass on culture when written records are too dangerous to keep. Driven by a community-engaged, Colorado-based research process, this piece explores if our identities and rituals rise from earth and mountains where we spend our days, are inherited in the ancient stories of our blood, or are learned in the motions of mothers at sunset and overheard songs of grandparents.

Hey y'all! We know you've missed us. Here's a little update episode where Lucie and Buzz talk about some Southwest Studies events and other cool happenings in the Center.

In Block 3, Dr. Karen Roybal and Dr. Carrie Ruiz taught a cross-listed Spanish and Southwest Studies class: New Mexican Culture and Identity through the Performative Arts (SP316/SW200). This episode highlights the voices of the professors, as well as students: Leo Fries, Diana Buda, Annette Leyva, and Ella Eskenazi.

This episode was co-produced by Buzz Katsev and Lucie Raphael. Sarah interviews Leah Davis Witherow, Curator of History for the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum. They discuss the museum's past, present, and future– keeping in mind the importance of histories that are often not included (of Indigenous people, queer people, people of color, etc.) in spaces named after "Pioneers".
