How are you making space to hear God’s voice?

In this episode of Generations at the Table, Megann Marcellino talks about the powerful Hebrew word “Shema,” which means to listen, heed, hear, and obey. The ancient and foundational Hebrew prayer of the Shema, found in Deuteronomy 6:4-5 and referenced by Jesus in Mark 12:29-31, calls us into a rhythm of obedience, attentiveness, awareness, and alignment. It’s the spiritual discipline of learning to filter every voice and influence through the voice of the Father. We cultivate space to hear and heed Him by:

  1. Prioritizing the Word: starting the day seeking God’s thoughts before the input of the world
  2. Silencing Other Voices: limiting external input, such as media, social media, and noise, which can drown out God's voice.
  3. Finding Stillness: Psalms 46:10 says we must be still to know God
  4. Seeking Counsel: allowing spiritual leaders and mentors to speak into our lives, rather than only friends or social media.

Join Megann as she shares the wisdom of stewarding the meditations of our heart towards God’s Word, worship, and prayer, and the cost of missed opportunity found in Deuteronomy chapter 1, warning us not to let circumstances speak louder than what God has spoken.
