In 1802, the ambitious project christened as The Great Trigonometrical Survey was started by Lt.Col. William Lambton to map the Indian Subcontinent. It took over 130 years to completely map it to inch perfection and even the height of Mt. Everest was calculated way before Edmund Hillary summited it in 1953. To tell us more about this fascinating survey we have with us Mr Udaya Kumar, a passionate Bengalurian & citizen historian-conservationist. He loves to research lesser-known aspects of the city's history.
