  • Which States Do Best on Gun Violence Prevention? (feat. Jessie Ojeda)
    Jan 21 2026

    Send us a message! Really!

This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, the legislature is back in session, the first big tranche of bills have been filed, and Colorado Democrats are as ready to do the people’s work as Colorado Republicans seem somehow caught off guard despite the fact that the legislative session starts about the same time every year. Then, do you have your tickets to the gun show? Our guest this week is Jessie Ojeda from GIFFORDS, who stops by to talk about Colorado’s recent spat of gun safety laws and how we can improve our grade (though there isn’t much room to grow!)

Later, friend of the pod Jason Crow is being investigated by the Big Orange Guy -- the same guy who claimed Democrats were using “unfair lawfare” to go after him. Then, in our continuing effort to get listeners as Killin' Pilled as we are, we examine how 5th District Republican Congressman Jeff Crank is screwing up his own politics because it turns out that being a right wing radio host for a few years doesn’t exactly prepare you for a competitive congressional. We also check in with the other schmuck who’s gonna lose a November congressional race (his name rhymes with Gabe Evans) and take a look at news in the race for Governor in 2026.

This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, there’s an old saying that “No man’s life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session,” but whoever said that obviously didn’t live in the Free State of Colorado where the second regular session of the 75th General Assembly kicks off this week. Also, The big sibling of the state legislature known as Congress tried and sadly failed to assert its coequal status as a branch of the federal government, but hey, at least they’re trying!

Then, Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser is meeting the unprecedented times our state is facing with unprecedented action from his office, and we really hope that it’s enough to stave off President Trump's all out assault on Colorado. We’ve got some more 2026 news for you, but first, a masked ICE agent shot and killed a Coloradan in Minnesota, and the Trump administration would like you to please not believe your own eyes, ears, or any of the witnesses or videos from the altercation in the most dystopian effort from our federal government yet, while at the same time threatening more foreign military intervention if, get this, Iran kills protesters.

    Jan 8 2026

    Send us a message! Really!

This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, HAPPY 2026! It’s an election year, most likely a very good one for the blue team, that is unless we find a way to get in our own way which we very well could! But first, are we at war with Venezuela? It depends who you talk to. Or what social media platform you’re on, or what your definition of “war” is, or what party you belong to. Then, Donald Trump just can’t stop fucking with Colorado, and even our Republican members of Congress passing unanimous bills to get clean drinking water to Republican counties are getting caught in the crossfire.

Then, we take a walk down memory lane to 2025 which was a really, really bad year. Our 6th and 8th favorite members of Congress from Colorado try to justify their existences, and we do some 2026 prognosticating.

  • Pete Hague-Seth and the Affordability Hoax
    Dec 10 2025

    Send us a message! Really!

This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, the State of Colorado lost a giant after State Senator Faith Winter tragically passed in a car accident, leaving a huge orange and blue void in the State Capitol and in so many of our hearts. We remember a state lawmaker who wasn’t one of 100 lawmakers, she was one of one. Then, the Secretary of War Crimes is earning his new title by defending the wanton murder of random boaters in the Caribbean Sea...until people point out that that’s actually a war crime.

Then, Lock Her Up or FREE TINA? The President of the United States, who clearly doesn’t understand or care how laws, the constitution, or our Republican form of Government works STILL has thoughts about one of his election conspiracy lackeys who was found guilty by a jury of her peers in one of the reddest counties in Colorado for hacking her own election equipment trying to prove the big lie was the truth. Then, is affordability a hoax? This $700 receipt from Costco has thoughts. Later, a Republican State Representative says the quiet part out loud, in case you were still somehow under the impression that those folks were there to try and make any laws. And finally, we check in with our 8th favorite member of Congress from Colorado to see how the various obvious and falsifiable lies he’s been telling all year are working out for him.

  • Affordability!
    Nov 24 2025

    Send us a message! Really!

This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, the Epstein Files bill passed the House and Senate nearly unanimously and was signed into law by Donald Trump. That means that we get to see everything that was in them, right? Right? Then Trump’s mid-cycle gerrymandering mandate seems to have totally backfired on the GOP with a federal judge in Texas blocking the Lone Star State’s attempt to rig the 2024 midterms in their favor right after California voters overwhelmingly approved their counteracting measure...oops! Then, have Trump’s polling numbers finally hit rock bottom, or is he essentially in free fall through a polling mine shaft? A raft of new polling indicates he may not have even hit terminal velocity yet.

Then, one military veteran in Colorado’s Congressional delegation has had his life threatened by the president of the united states, while another military veteran in Colorado’s Congressional Delegation can’t stop lying his ass off, can you guess who is who? And finally, we peer into the present with a new poll from our friends at the Colorado Polling Institute, and peer into the future with yet another 2026 election update because pretty soon we won’t be able to joke that it’s 2025 anymore!

  • Wow, What a Story! (feat. Andrew Baumann)
    Nov 19 2025

    Send us a message! Really!

This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, we can finally shut up about the shut down as it has met a rather anticlimactic end right in time for the holiday travel crunch, but, the only thing we care about is…WHO WON, and, hey, what the hell is going on with all those healthcare premiums anyway...and, hey, what's with that multi-milliion dollar payout for Republican senators doing in there? Then, President Trump is totally not worried about the release of more information related to the Epstein files, so he and the White House are doing what totally not-worried people do in this situation: They’re freaking the fuck out. How does that impact our least-favorite members of congress from Colorado?

And...you know him as Pollster of the Pod because he’s the pollster we’ve had on the pod more than any other…Andrew Baumann is BACK to discuss the national political environment after the 2025 elections, and a new poll from friend of the pod Jessica Killin, which has us asking: Are YOU Killin Pilled too?

  • Unleash the Blue-icane! (feat. Jeff Bridges)
    Nov 11 2025

    Send us a message! Really!

This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, it’s 2017 all over again, but bigger, better, and BLUE-YER as Democrats from all sides of the spectrum ride an anti-Trump wave to huge win margins across the country that are sending Republicans into the long, dark teatime of the soul. We unpack the results of the 2025 election and ask “why the fuck did we have to learn this lesson, again, America?”

Then, with SNAP benefits expiring and 1 out of every 10 flights getting canceled over the upcoming holidays, is there an end to the shutdown in sight? And we talk about what this all means for the 2026 midterms! And...our guest today in our seemingly never-ending quest to interview every viable democratic candidate for a major race in Colorado, friend of the pod Jeff Bridges joins us once more to explain his campaign for State Treasurer and his love for "T-pools."

  • Colorado Republicans: Also Terrible at Fundraising (feat. Christy Powell)
    Nov 4 2025

    Send us a message! Really!

This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, the money is pouring into primary elections in Colorado, but, really just for one party, can you guess which one? Best friend of the pod Christy Powell is back to break down the third quarter fundraising results in Colorado. Also, the shutdown shitshow continues into its sixth week, and most Americans aren’t stupid, so they know who’s to blame -- namely, the party who currently controls the House, the Senate, and the White House. And finally, the most potent weapon against the excesses of the Trump administration isn’t Congress, and it’s isn’t even states or governors; it turns out that the courts are the last thing standing between the American People and full blown stupid techno-fascism.
