Psalm 23:1-4, “The Lord is my Shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to His name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for You are close beside me. Your rod and Your staff protect andcomfort me.”There are many “shepherds” who want to lead us—our feelings… our thoughts… our emotions… our habits. Many people bounce from one shepherd to another. But the Good Shepherd (there’s only one!) never leaves us. He’s always with us wanting to lead us. And when we get lost, He comes to find us! The question is, will we follow Him?Even though God is sovereign, “the ultimate authority which no other power or being can overrule,” we still must choose to follow Him. In this lesson, we will study Jonah’s “under-water-prayer” and conclude that when we choose contrary to God’s will, we can’t blame Him for the outcome! The Gathering, Sept 20, 2025#thegatheringwithronandcarriewebb, #thegathering, #sovereignty, #sovereigntyofgod, #godleads, #Goodshepherd, #fellowshipwithgod, #don’tbeafraid, #fearnot, #roncarriewebb, #ronandcarriewebb, #thegatheringbiblestudy,

  • Sovereign 3: God Leads (Ps 23)
    Sep 13 2025

Exodus 15:13, “With Your unfailing love (kindness, goodness) You lead the people You have redeemed. In Your might (strength), You guide them to Your sacred home.” God leads us and guides us in His strength, in His sovereignty, meaning “the ultimate authority which no other power or being can overrule.”

When it comes to leading and guiding, God knows best and no one can do it better! The word, lead, means “to go in direction of, to turn eyes toward.” God doesn’t just point us in a direction; He accompanies us where He is leading us!

The word, guide, means “gentle but purposeful leading to a place of refreshing.” As the Ultimate Authority in our lives, God gently leads us!

God guides us to His sacred home, or His dwelling place, His habitation!

Jesus said in John 14:23, “All who love Me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and We will come and make our home with each of them.”

Because God wants us to fellowship with Him, He gently leads us into His presence. He doesn’t push us or pull us. He leads and we must follow.

How does God leads us? —With words. Isaiah 30:21, “Right behind you a voice will say, ‘This is the way you should go,’ whether to the right or to the left.”
