  • Episode 204: Schticks & Stones Holiday Special w/ Aaron Cohen
    Apr 9 2026

Todays Guest on the Pod we bring you Aaron Cohen and the all too humorous Schticks & Stones Holiday Special Live on Kickstarter. Aaron's work in this particular book started within Scott Snyder's Best Jackett Workshops where he developed the comic strip styling of Schticks & Stones as a Hilarious Passover special into the anthology The Cloak Room books on Kickstarter. The book highlights the Fineman Family mainly our young protaganist Ben whom within each book designed around 3 Jewish Holidays: Passover, Hannakuh, and Purim and in the spirit of Sunday morning Comic strips. The Stories (Crime and Passover, Eight, and Rich Dad, Purim Dad) line themselves as Mysteries and Ben is the lead Detective. He navigates the family gatherings amidst all the chaos and just wants to not be stuck at the little kids table anymore during dinner.

Alex Schumacher builds an excellent character design as Ben along with his do-good Cousin Mark and the rest of the Fineman Family. If you like the Family Circle, Calvin and Hobbes, Doonesbury this comic is for you.

Today's Guest: Matthew Rosenberg spent the course last year finishing up his great Spy Thriller We're Taking everyone down with us to excellent critical acclaim. At the time of the scheduling the interview, it was announced that Matthew will be passed the torch as head writer for the Iconic series Spawn from the one and only Todd McFarlane which we get into later in the Podcast.

If Destruction be our Lot for Image Comics brings forth a post human society where the Robots created by humanity now run the world. We meet Abe (a robotic Abraham Lincoln) from a museum programmed to orate the history of one of our greatest presidents. With Humanity gone, the world happier for the rest of automation, but lonely for Abe. We ask: Are Humans truly extinct in this world? Is Abe conflicted with the loss of humans a parody of Humanity since the robot is designed to understand the history of a world that was molded by the former president? Does Abe's journey mimic Abraham Lincoln life his failures as well as his successes to show robots what they are without the Humans. Also, Matthew teams with his brother Mark to handle construction of this excellent series.

  • Episode 202: Until they made me a Monster w/ David F. Walker for The Monster Of Blackenstyne
    Apr 2 2026

Today I get to talk with one of my heroes once again with the return of Eisner winning Co-Creator of Bitter Root David F. Walker for his retelling of 1973's Blackstein because in David'd own words it was the worst movie he had ever seen and he wanted to bring it to life and make it better. His telling brought the intersectionality of the Classic Horror Monster and 70's Blaxploitation Films. A school driver maliciously and mistakenly murdered by the police is awakened in an experiment by a Medical School Dropout named Blake N. Styne and once brought to life remembers the good hearted man he once was, but amidst escaping back into the real world. He looks to take revenge on the very cops that took his life.

  • Episode 200: Pillars of Midnight w/ Lloyd and Natosha Jones of Midnight Comics
    Mar 31 2026

Today we celebrate this episode of the Faqs Project with 2 Milestones this is Episode 200 a great feat for this small but mighty Comic Book Podcast. Our Guests are Lloyd and Natosha Jones of Midnight Comics who are also celebrating 5 years as an Indie Comic Publisher as I've been a fan of their books since 2021's The Unbeloved.

Midnight Comics currently has a Kickstarter live that is a 5 year Omnibus of all their works without leaving an ounce of their creativity out. Such titles as The Grey, Sol, The Unbeloved, Dogma, Last Day, Admoni, Raven's Omen and Powers that Be 9 titles/13 books are all included. We get a bit Nostalgic as we go back to Midnight Comics early beginnings and even as current as them tasked with a group of interns who have recently accomplished a Kickstarter campaign themselves. As Lloyd and Natosha would put it, as we continue to climb we have to pull those stating this journey up.

A fabulous accomplishment for a Black Indie Comic Book Publisher as they say the best exercise is patience. Contemporaries have come and gone, but Midnight Comics with this Omnibus find a means to showcase their works all while building a fresh slate for the next 5 years.

A coordinated attack is imminent on the corporation Overcon and their celebration of the Paradise Loop-A speed train that can move from London to New York in under an hour.

  • Episode 198: All in Milestone's Business w/ Joseph Illidge and the New History of the DC Universe-The Dakota Incident
    Mar 18 2026

Today we have Joseph Illidge back on the pod. Mr. Illidge is someone I hold in high regard as one of the many architects that gave us Milestone Comics with characters such as Hardware, Icon, Rocket, The Blood Syndicate, and Static. The New History of the DC Universe was release in late February, but around late January Mr. Illidge put on a 100k unit selling challenge to embolden the many fans of Milestone to come and show support for a book that some may deem the powers that be may be against. Joe, breaks down the miseducation of comic book fans in real time and further discussed the meaning of Final Order Cutoff's that most comic fans barely know about. The objective was to create demand because a company like DC/Warner Bros. sees profit, there becomes a reason to gain from it. Meaning make more books! It was announced recently that a second printing for the book is in pre order now with a cover of Static by Dan Mora. The story itself serves as an allegory throughly struck by the books opening line a quote from Langston Hughes poem "Harlem". What is a dream deferred? Beacon is sent into the past to correct a nexus event that under government force, suppressed Dakota's Heroes so they had no choice but to never use their powers again. Mr. Illidge focuses on fans reluctance to support a book and yet wonder why they haven't seen those heroes for months or years on end. The fans have been misled in not knowing their own power of doing enough to keep their favorite stories alive. As the story shows us, its a story of survival not if you survive, but how you survive.

  • Episode 197: Shedding your Skin w/ Monty Nero and the Cyberpunk Tale Chrome Roses
    Mar 10 2026

Todays Guest Monty Nero brings us his Cyberpunk tale Chrome Roses from across the pond in Scotland. A world aptly named the Tract where society was broken in half by a pandemic, no law enforcement, decisions are made by social media polls and ratings, physical touch has abandoned for Husks-an advance way of feeling because of fear from the outside world. A rogue detective named Kramm freelances his way at solving a murder although solving a crime in this world is transactional and monetary. Gig economies and Digital Identity are the way. Monty provides the artwork of this vast world as well detailing characters where some have replaced their flesh to become something of a total mechanism, body and soul.
