  • S2 EP9: Hustle Culture, Self-Belief, and Starting a Business in your 20s with Miona Short
    May 13 2024

Welcome to The Dope Creator Podcast where we get REAL with your favorite Creators and CEOs.

In today’s episode, I’m joined by Miona Short!

Miona (me-AH-na) is a Chicago girl with Mississippi roots, and she’s always had a lot of hair and little patience for it. Miona always knew she would become a writer and astrophysicist, but had no idea that another dream would take root and curve her predetermined path.

When she invented the Carefree Comb, a product-dispensing tool for afrotextured, curly, and coarse hair types, she was tired of having to choose between her studies and doing her own hair. Now she’s using all the time she’s saved on haircare to create a company that crafts simple, innovative solutions for the beauty market. She’s probably somewhere complaining about being gluten-free. Her favorite planet is Venus. Her favorite galaxy is Henize 2-10.

Join us as we discuss Miona's journey as an inventor, her transition from astrophysics to entrepreneuership, and the importance of not compromising your values and ultimately staying true to yourself.

    We also talk about…

    • The significance of self-belief and self-trust in pursuing one's dreams.
    • Hustle culture and its negative impact on mental health and your well-being
    • The importance of giving yourself permission to have multiple dreams
    • Evaluating your relationship with risk and regret when considering entrepreneurship
