Welcome to The Devil Within, the podcast that explores true stories of demonic possession and the supernatural. With new episodes every week and new, immersive seasons every year, The Devil Within begins where the answers run out… and the truth, no matter how extraordinary, will be brought into the light. From ancient spirits to modern day ghost stories… demonic possession to creatures of legend. For all things unexplainable - and more than few that are better left alone - The Devil Within has you covered. BINGE THE FIRST THREE SEASONS NOW! Season 1: The Jersey Devil - The brutal slaying of BETTY ANN SULLIVAN shocked the small town of Jefferson Township, New Jersey. The violence of that evening shocked the nation for the perpetrator... was her own son, a boy of fourteen who would take his own life only hours later. What the investigation revealed left a community in tatters, unwilling to believe the evil that had befallen them. Season 2: The Demons of Yorkshire - In 1974 after experiencing financial hardship, Michael Taylor joined a local church in the rolling hills of Northern England. After falling in love with a young, beautiful preacher, Michael’s personality began to change. The mild-mannered family man became abusive and unhinged. His new church believed he was possessed by no fewer than 48 demons and would require an exorcism to save his soul and protect his family from evil. But the supposed remedy would come at a very steep price... Season 3: A Season in Hell - In the late 1970's New York City had it all: Hip Hop, Punk Rock... and the Son of Sam. The third season of The Devil Within takes listeners into the belly of the beast and explores the wicked origins, reign of terror and ultimate capture of one of the most feared serial killers in history. With exclusive interviews from journalists, FBI agents, historians and mental health experts this season promises to be the most comprehensive - and most terrifying - account of how one man brought New York City to a standstill.011338 Biografías y Memorias Crímenes Reales

  • The Devil's Ledger - Week of Dec. 15th.
    Dec 15 2025
The Devil’s Ledger — Week of December 15 Welcome back—and happy holidays. It’s that special time of year filled with forced cheer, soft lighting, and quietly wondering whether leftovers have crossed from festive into forensic. Whether you’re decking halls, dodging relatives, or just surviving December, we’re glad you’re here. This week’s Ledger is packed with folklore, fanaticism, lost idealism, and a reminder that some remakes exist solely to make us feel ancient. 🔥 The Creepiest Thing I Heard This Week In Icelandic folklore, a ritual known as nábrók—or necropants—promised endless wealth at an unimaginable cost. Crafted from the skin of a dead man and worn directly against the flesh, the necropants blurred the boundary between survival and damnation. It’s a story where greed literally wears the dead, and prosperity requires intimacy with decay. Fair warning: once you hear it, you won’t forget it. 🩸 This Week on The Devil Within We begin a brand-new two-part series, Blood on the Blue Grass, examining the disturbing case of Rod Ferrell, the so-called Kentucky Vampire. This is not a gothic fantasy—it’s a chilling exploration of teenage alienation, unchecked belief, and how confidence and charisma can become lethal forces when pointed in the wrong direction. 🕯️ On The Ides of April We conclude our series on the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy with Part Two of The Death of the New America. From the Ambassador Hotel pantry to the gunshots that silenced a movement, this episode explores not just how Bobby Kennedy died—but what died with him. A nation’s momentum. A generation’s hope. A future that never arrived. 🧠 Criminal Mischief Life mirrors fiction on this week's CM...we delve into the horrifying details of a real life Fatal Attraction and the deveststingly cruel consequences of obsession, jealousy and rage... 🗝️ Taboo Treasures Content TBD. Even the devil needs a week to sharpen his pitchfork. 🎬 This Week in Horror It’s officially “I’m super old” week with a remake of The Hand That Rocks the Cradle—a psychological thriller I remember being filmed right here in Los Angeles what feels like a century ago. A nanny who never should’ve been let into the house, and proof that the scariest monsters often arrive smiling. As we close out the episode, warm Hanukkah wishes to those celebrating, and holiday greetings to everyone navigating this strange, sparkly, emotionally complicated season. Lock your doors. Trust cautiously. If something feels off—you’re probably right. Sleep well. Or don’t. We’ll see you next week. 🎄🕯️👁️ 💼 SPONSORS 🧥 QUINCE Luxury essentials at affordable prices. 🌙EPISODE 2 🕸 “The Mantis Man of the Musconetcong — Part Two: The River Keeps Its Secrets” In Part Two, we zoom out from my childhood river to the global phenomenon hiding behind the Mantis Man legend. Ancient mantis gods. Insectoid aliens. Evolutionary fears wired straight into our DNA. Biological impossibilities. Folklore that refuses to die. Then we return home — to the Musconetcong, to Jefferson, to the quiet bridge where something tall and translucent allegedly stepped out of the water and vanished into the trees. 📚 Chapters 4. 🪳 The Insect Gods 5. 🧠 Why Bugs Terrify Us 6. 🌫 The River Keeps Its Secrets A final reflection on childhood landscapes, memory, fear, and why certain places cling to the monsters we project onto them. 📣 CALL TO ACTION • 📸 Follow us on Instagram: @thedevilwithinpod • @eviocreative • @idesofaprilpod • ⭐ Subscribe on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen • 📝 Leave a rating & review — it really helps • 👁 Share this episode with someone who loves folklore anthropology or hometown hauntings 💼 SPONSORS 🧥 QUINCE Luxury essentials at affordable prices. I am halfway through this, but had to stop and review. The creator of this podcast is so grossly ignorant of Catholicism, Catholic education, and teen psychology that it makes this hard to listen to. There’s an obvious anti-Catholic bias. He makes it sound like teaching world religions is an unusual thing. Every Catholic high school teaches world religions. He also dramatizes how frequently the church talks about the antichrist which is not a major focus in Catholic education at all. So many things that he states as fact are flat out incorrect. I guess Dungeons and Dragons is also going to be blamed for turning this kid into a satanist. This is so poorly researched compared to other Wondery podcasts that I’ve listened to.

Ignorant Assumptions

Season One is not available, so I went straight into season two. While this is a horrific crime, I feel like there wasn't much information regarding the religious/demonic aspect that seemed to be substantiated. Some of the story details regarding the exorcism seemed vague. Some leaps taken. A bit referencing The Exorcist is thrown in for good measure.

Meh

Absolutely infuriating that they are passing this off as a true crime podcast. Episode 1 is the only episode that isn’t almost complete nonsense. What’s worse - the nonsense is that the Devil made him do it. Really?! If they didn’t advertise this as true crime, it would be fine but it’s a huge disappointment if you were hoping for actual insights. Skip it.

Based on true crime, not a true crime podcast

it calls itself true crime but its about as true as stories that are 'inspired' by true events. the production quality is good, which is sad to see wasted on such garbage. This is a work of fiction for the religious right and nothing more.

Fiction that bills itself fact

I thought this was true crime and it was a fantastical work of fiction that gave credence to the satanic panic…. HUGE disappointment. I usually love wondery but this has almost ruined them for me, in terms of credibility at least.

Absolutely terrible
