Many people’s childhoods were filled with Disney movies. In these films, there usually is a downtrodden girl who, against all odds, becomes the heroine. But Disney did not come up with the premise of many of their animated films. They borrowed the idea from many classic works.

In those versions, the princess does not necessarily meet their Prince Charming and live happily ever after.
