The Cup

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus experienced his most vulnerable moment, wrestling with unimaginable anguish before his crucifixion. The name Gethsemane means oil press, symbolizing how pressure produces something valuable. Jesus wasn't simply afraid of death - he was facing the cup of God's wrath against sin that he would drink on our behalf. His sacrifice means believers never have to face God's condemnation, as Jesus absorbed the full punishment our sins deserved.
