Let us start by saying welcome to the family at The Crime Collective!
Every episode will see the hosts Ben, Claire and Kitty hit you with a current or historic true crime story followed by some interesting crime facts and perhaps even a special guest or two!
It's not just a grizzly murder show - we take our subject seriously but we do love some banter and laughter along the way to keep ourselves sane.
Feel free to reach out @ tcrimecollective@gmail.com with any questions or hit us up on the Facebook group.
Take care and we will see you soon!

  • Episode 99: The Great Brinks Robbery
    Feb 26 2026

Welcome to episode 99, in which Ben recounts the epic story of the 1950 robbery of more than $2.7 million in cash and securities by a group of masked men from a Brink's depot in Boston.
Considered the crime of the century, it had obviously taken meticulous planning and led to years of investigative work by the FBI.
Find out if the gang of thieves were able to wait out the seven-year statue of limitations, how the heist was pulled off and whether the massive haul of loot was ever recovered...
And to finish things off, Claire has a round-up of recent ridiculousness from around Tasmania, complete with some brilliant and highly-amusing social media comments from the original coverage of the cases, which Ben really loved.

  • Episode 98: Darlene Geertsema
    Feb 12 2026

Welcome to episode 98, in which Claire and Ben finally return from their prolonged break and discuss some changes in the future of the podcast.
Claire then tells the main story about the disappearance of 30-year-old mother of six, Darlene Geertsema, from Devonport, Tasmania, in 1978. While police at the time ruled out foul play, it took one daughter's persistence and the dedication of a female police officer to reopen the investigation more than 30 years later. Hear who the coroner blamed for Darlene's death and what has happened with the case since.
Trigger warning - discussion of domestic violence.
Ben then finishes things off with the dramatic 2014 Stockton Bank of the West robbery, hostage taking and wild police pursuit that had a tragic ending.
