  • 123. Fertility Warrior & Advocate: Anna Almojuela
    Jun 5 2024

1 in 6 women in Canada experience infertility and this is the story of Anna’s journey navigating the health system, IVF and relationships! She recognizes that the end outcome is not the same for everyone so please listen with care as this message is meant to be supportive to everyone who listens.

Anna Almojuela and her husband struggled with infertility from 2018 to 2022, with the darkest periods taking place during the pandemic. After dedicating 2022 to IVF, she is now facing new challenges as a first time mom, to her rainbow baby, Elyanna Amavi. Although the many years of struggles paid off for her family, she is very aware that a baby isn’t a guaranteed outcome for many others who face infertility.

In September of 2023, Anna began her fertility advocacy and created an Instagram page called @RainbowBabyEly as a safe platform to share their story, help educate and spread awareness.

Drawing from her own journey and experience, Anna strives to use her voice to combat stigma and provide comfort to those navigating similar challenges - aiming to foster a community where individuals feel supported, understood, and safe.

Thank you so much, Anna, for being so generous with your time and your story, in an effort to share your advocacy so that women and families no longer feel alone in their journey.

  • 116. Embracing Indigenous Culture with Melissa Walterson
    Apr 10 2024

Join us on this week’s episode for a heartwarming conversation with Melissa Walterson, as she shares her journey of accepting and embracing her Nisichawayasihk Cree and Pasqua roots after years of growing up in a predominantly non-Indigenous life.

Being raised by her adoptive white parents, Melissa spent her adolescent years not acknowledging her indigenous roots, and always felt out of place in religious denominations. This feeling of not belonging led her to a path of reconnection with her identity, her birth family, and fully embracing her culture.

A story of self-rediscovery, acceptance, and celebrating culture, all of this and more in this episode that hits close to home. Tune in now!
