  • WTA Tour Coach #213: Jared Jacobs - Mental Gymnastics on Tour
    Mar 30 2026

On The Coaching Podcast, WTA Tour coach Jared Jacobs joins me to unpack what really decides matches when the margins are small and the spotlight is big. Coaching at the highest level is a collaboration. It’s rarely about forehands and backhands. On the tour, it’s mental gymnastics. Pressure exposes character. Competition tests your training. And great coaching means knowing — before the heat of the moment — exactly how your player is going to respond when everything is on the line.

    About Jared Jacobs

Jared Jacobs is a WTA Tour tennis coach and the founder of Mojo Tennis Boutique Training Center in Arizona. With a Master’s degree in Sports Psychology and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, Jared blends elite performance coaching with a deep understanding of the competitive mind. A former Division I player at the University of Pennsylvania and three-time U.S. Senior National Team member, Jared brings firsthand competitive experience to his coaching philosophy.

Throughout his coaching career, he has worked with world-class athletes including Natasha Zvereva and played a key role in helping Bethanie Mattek-Sands capture the 2019 US Open Mixed Doubles title and the 2019 Beijing Open Doubles title. At Mojo Tennis, Jared is known for developing competitors who train with intention — combining technical precision, emotional regulation, and mental resilience. His perspective spans both tennis and padel, offering a modern lens on competition and performance development.

Outside the court, Jared is a PTR Certified Coach who enjoys rock climbing, longboarding, golf, table tennis, and backgammon. He supports animal rescue shelters, speaks English, Italian, and French — and has been known to travel through airports on Heelys.

  • Business Coach #212: David Cory - Name It to Tame It: Emotional Intelligence in Action
    Mar 16 2026

In this powerful conversation with David Cory, we unpack the real difference between EI and EQ — and why emotional intelligence is no longer a “soft skill,” but a leadership necessity. We explore vulnerability (and the myth of “big boys don’t cry”), the idea of sharing emotions instead of wearing them, and how to “name it to tame it” rather than stuffing feelings down. David breaks down transformational vs transactional leadership, the true meaning of self-awareness and impulse control, and why your influence ultimately comes down to your self-regard, independence, and presence with empathy. Plus — one absolute gold-dust coaching question you’ll want to steal: “Why won’t you let me help you?”

“If your emotional abilities aren’t in hand, if you don’t have self-awareness, if you’re not able to manage your distressing emotions, then no matter how smart you are, you’re not going to get very far.” — Daniel Goleman

About David Cory - Founder & Leadership Development Coach

David Cory is a leadership development coach, trainer, and consultant recognised for his expertise in applying emotional intelligence to improve individual and organisational performance.

Since 1998, David and his team have implemented EI development programs with leaders in some of the world’s most progressive organisations. • Coach EM Turbo Tip #208: Action vs Outcome (Environment Matters)
    Jan 26 2026

Coach EM Turbo Tip — Action vs Outcome (Environment Matters)

    Tip:
Interesting language realisation from my last workshop.

As always, I ask people to share:
    1️⃣ one insight
    2️⃣ one action
3️⃣ one word for how they’re feeling

    Let’s break it down.

    Insight:
    Different for everyone.
A quote. A comment. A moment. A practice that landed.
    That’s awareness.

    Action:
One leader said his action was “team engagement.”
    Here’s the coaching moment:
👉 That’s not an action. That’s an outcome.

Engagement is the result of action — not the action itself.
This is a huge piece of the puzzle and one of the three pillars of the Coaching Leadership Academy: Environment.

    Ask yourself:
What environment do I want to create?
Then define 3 tangible, practical, observable behaviours that bring it to life.

Inspired by Eryc Eyl and his book Stop Making Workplaces Engaging — Start making them more human.

And finally, why do I ask for one word about how they feel?
    Because there’s motion in emotion.
When people feel moved… they move.

    Be open.
    Stay curious.
    Perform with pressure.

  • Coach EM Turbo Tip #207: Stop Following Up - Start with Feedback
    Jan 12 2026

Coach EM Turbo Tip #207: Stop Following Up - Start with Feedback

    Tip:
Inspired by my conversation with Ari Galper, Global Leader in Trust-Based Selling.
Here’s the reframe: stop following up… start asking for feedback.

    Everyone hates a follow-up.
    I hate sending them.
    They hate seeing them.

    Instead, invite the next conversation:

“Would you be open to sharing some feedback from our last conversation?”

    Or:

“I’d love to brainstorm ideas to support your [specific people challenge].”

    2026 = no more F-Up (haha).
    Get after it.
    Make it a great day.
    Until next time.
