    Your next doze of all things movie chat, better known as The Chronicle is here! In episode 43 of The Peoples Movies official film Podcast, Clotilde and Paul review Death Of A Unicorn and Four Mothers.

    First up is a horror comedy hybrid Death of A Unicorn starring Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd. Coming from A24/ EFD Films which see a father daughter driving to a remote home. When the pair argue as they drive they hit what they thought is a horse, it's an Unicorn! Unsure what to do they put the body in the back of the car head to the home of the Pharmaceutical tycoon Odell Leopold. They quickly learn it has magical powers of healing, the unicorn also has some angry parents!

    In the second and final review Four Mothers, James McArdle is Edward a talent author on the verge of success. He looks after his mother, Alma (Fionnula Flanagan) and when he's on the verge of heading to the U.S to promote his book. His so called friends decide they want a holiday and leave their mothers with Edward. Pushing him to make some important choices in life as the elderly mothers cause havoc.

  • Mickey 17 and The Last Showgirl

    What do you get when you cross multiple Robert Pattinson's and Pamela Anderson in the razzle dazzle? Episode 42 of The Chronicle Film Podcast as Clotilde and Paul review Mickey 17 plus The Last Showgirl.

    First up is Bong Joon-Ho sci-fi satire Mickey 17 starring Robert Pattinson. This film is based on Edward Ashton's novel of the same name. We follow Mickey Barnes (Pattinson) is hired for an unique job as an ‘expendable’, sent into space to head to colonize the world of Niflheim. Every time he dies, he’s cloned and restarts again! The film also stars Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo.

    The second and final film is Gia Coppola's The Last Showgirl starring Pamela Anderson. This film has arrived with a lot of buzz, as Anderson's big dramatic comeback. A similar comeback like Mickey Rourke's The Wrestler but with a story closer to The Substance. She plays Shelly a woman who has been dancing for 30 years at Las Vegas last Showgirl show. The show abruptly ends leaving Shelly no clue what to do next, what does do is try and repair a strained relationship with her daughter (Billie Lourd). The film also stars Dave Batista, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kieran Shipka and Brenda Song.

    I do hope you enjoyed The Chronicle Episode 41 which is a EE BAFTA / Oscars special. The BAFTAs happened last night and if you didn't listen you can here and find out how good or bad we where. Also see our thought on The Oscars.

    24 years after the first Bridget Jones film, Bridget (Renée Zellweger ) is back on the dating game! She has a Tinder profile and before she got a chance to swipe Bridget has a pursuer. A younger man (Leo Woodall). We also learn she's trying to get her family life back to some sort of normality after tragedy , will she be ready to mingle?

    The film also stars Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Isla Fisher, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jim Broadbent, Gemma Jones, James Callis, Shirley Henderson, Sally Phillips.

    Welcome to The Chronicle Film Podcast Episode 41! Clotilde and Paul preview 2025 EE BAFTAs aka the 78th British Academy Film Awards, the British Oscars. Like last years episode we cover the 97th Academy Awards aka The Oscars.

    The Awards season has been with us for a couple of months and now we're at the business end of the season. The premiere award ceremonies take place promising a celebration of all things films. Recognition of those in front of camera,the filmmakers and those behind the camera who we never hear about.

    First up will be the EE Baftas on 16th February taking place in central London. Then on 2nd March (3rd in the UK & Ireland), its the big one the 97th Academy Awards taking place in Hollywood, LA.

  • Nosferatu and 2073

    It's time for another episode of The Chronicle, the podcast for The Peoples Movies. For Episode 40 Clotilde & Paul review Nosferatu and 2073, will they be 'FANG-tastic'?

    First up is Robert Eggers highly anticipated Nosferatu remake. If we go by the reaction of cinephiles and critics you will be transfixed hailing it a masterpiece, will Clotilde and Paul agree? The film stars Nicholas Hoult is Thomas who is sent to Transylvania to sell the estate of Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgård ). Orlok plans to move to Wisborg, Thomas is unaware the Count has eyes for his wife Ellen (Lilly-Rose Depp). The town is unaware Orlok is a Vampire! It also stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Ineson, Emma Corrin, Willem Dafoe and Simon McBurney.

    Asif Kapida has created some great documentaries in his time about Amy Winehouse, Ayrton Senna and Diego Maradona. 2073 is a documentary but also a sci-fi drama starring Samantha Morton, Naomie Ackie. Ghost (Morton) lives in a dystopian authoritarian future the world is destroyed by the climate change. The film mixing history, facts, possibilities which are causing the crises and making things worse. Will the message of the film impact you?

    Happy New Year once again and finally episode 39 of The Chronicle, Worst Films episode has finally arrived online.

    We do hope you enjoyed The Best Films episode (ep 38), now Clotilde and Paul share their Worst Films choices. Like the favourites, the films that appear on the list are personal choices. We appreciate films are divisive and one persons nightmare is another persons favourites. Like the best films post, why not share in the comments your choices, we love to see them.

    It's another long episode, please do enjoy it. These episodes myself and Clotilde did have Internet and Tech issues which prevented us recording and editing on the same day. Despite the issues it was a great 3 hours and cannot wait to see what films will be on the next best/worst films podcast episode.

    Happy New Year! Kick Off 2025 with The Chronicle Film Podcast with The Best Films of 2024 aka episode 38.

    The 2023 edition with The Worst Films where some of the most popular Podcast episodes. This year once again we split things into 2 parts and I can tell you, It's a long one folks.

    Clotilde and Paul share what films they enjoyed in the year just gone as well as some honourable mentions. Will your favourites be mentioned on the episode? I think they'll be some expected films as well as many surprises. The order they talk about them are not the order of preference

    This episode 38 (and 39) have taken a little longer to do compile and edit, apologies for that. We have several technical issues which resulted in re-recording parts of the episodes, sound/ microphone quality may differ at times unfortunately out of our control.

  • Moana 2, Conclave & Wicked

    It just feels like yesterday we had a new episode for The Chronicle Film Podcast. Guess what we have Episode 37 with Mona 2, Conclave and Wicked.

    Apologies for the big wait between episodes, so this week your hosts Paul and Clotilde review 3 films. All out in UK, Irish and many cinemas around the world and st to be big players at the box office.

    Up first is Moana 2, the long awaited sequel to Disney's 2016 animation of the same name. Are you aware this long awaited sequel nearly never happened? Now it has with Auli‘i Cravalho back as our titular heroine and Dwayne Johnson as demi-god Maui. Moana finds herself taking to the seas after a call from her ancestors to break an ancient curse and reunite her fellow people of the seas. Will the new film find the success of the original film?

    Next review is Conclave starring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci and Isabella Rossellini. Fiennes is Cardinal Lawrence who is in charge after the Pope’s unexpected death as the church’s most powerful leaders gather. Pushing him into the centre of the most secretive, ancient events and in the middle of a conspiracy that could shake the church.

    Final review is Wicked, which stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba Thropp and Ariana Grande as Glinda. Both at University Glinda befriends Elphaba who is seen as a outcast, friends forever with different ambitions.
