Classified as not White, Thomas is a professor of pedagogy specializing in critical pedagogy and multicultural education at the University of South-Eastern Norway. He migrated to Norway from Somalia and began driving a cab before matriculating to college and becoming a university professor. We’ll discuss his latest book, Too Black to Be Here?: Exploring Racism in Norway through Four Critical Case Studies. He examines the 2011 White Terrorist attack of Anders Breivick and the 2001 Racist murder of 16-year-old Benjamin Hermansen by a gang of White youth. The text mentions many of the typical names that White people allow us to use when discussing Racism: Noel Ignatiev, Dr. Peggy McIntosh, Dr. Charles W. Mills, Dr. Joe Feagin and Ta-Nehisi Coates to name a few.
