First, lets start with the good. Here is everything that I enjoyed about the episode:
Now that's off the agenda, lets get to the juicy stuff. Whoever recorded this production seems to have done it using a food processor. I am 87.45321003% sure that the voice is artificial. There's no way one person managed to speak in a monotone and not articulate sentence structure correctly at the same time. Perhaps there was some fowl 🐔 play on the editor's part (assuming there WAS an editor). This episode also graced us with all new sound effects, not to mention "voice acting" that would make Leonard Nimoy or James Earle Jones cry tears of mirth. The sound effects could have been worse, but it was rather loud compared to the narration. The coin stacking and rolling jump scared me a bit. The voice acting (which only appeared a few times) ranged from obnoxious to ear bending. I don't mean to offend anyone, but this was terrible (and likely ai), its only redeeming quality being the fact it was less annoying than the narration. It was very poorly timed, "................hiya duck.................." for example. Sister's voice was indescribable, a twisted aberrant whine. Rascaly Randy has a real interesting gig going here. While the story sounds like it was transmitted and recorded via telegraph in real time, these reviews exist for the sole purpose of sharing our opinions on a story (and not as a social media page like Wings of Fire The Poison Jungle), so theorizing isn't really my job here. If the podcast would only clean up its act and hire a proper narrator, their work might change for the better.
All in all, this is a cheap shadow of the original story. If you really want your kids to experience it, I recommend buying the physical book. Sure it costs money, but it's either that or Randy. I found the episode humerous in how ridiculous it was, but I doubt a young child would share my sentiment, seeing as the narration is borderline indecipherable at times. As far as children's audios go, this is scraping the bottom of the barrel. If you're feeling brave, however, give it a listen. It will change your life.
Happy Easter!

My wife and I thought it was just us so we played it for our 9-year-old and she told us that was hard to listen to.
