    Mar 2 2026

Are you a fan? Let us know!

This week, The BakerBoys are going back to where childhood trauma got its wings: The Land Before Time (1988), the original Don Bluth classic. We revisit Littlefoot’s journey, the iconic characters, and why this “kids movie” hits way harder than it has any right to. From the animation and music to the themes of loss, courage, and friendship, we break down what still works, what feels dated, and why this film became such a lasting piece of animated history. Grab a tree star and join us for a nostalgic (and occasionally brutal) review.

  • An American Tail (1986) - Film Review
    Feb 23 2026

Are you a fan? Let us know!

This week on The BakerBoys Film Reviews, we’re heading to the New World with An American Tail (1986), Don Bluth’s heartfelt animated classic that somehow manages to be adorable, funny, and quietly gut-punching all at once. When the Mousekewitz family immigrates to America chasing a better life, young Fievel gets separated on the journey and ends up alone in a massive, noisy, intimidating city where everything is bigger than him… including the problems.

We talk about what makes this film stick: the emotional storytelling, the immigrant perspective, the unforgettable music (yes, we’re talking about that song), and how it balances hope with hardship without ever feeling preachy. We also dig into the characters, the humor, the villains, and why this movie still hits whether you’re watching it for nostalgia or for the first time.

It’s a story about family, survival, and believing you’ll find your way back, even when the world feels too huge to handle.

  • The Secret of NIMH (1982) - Film Review
    Feb 22 2026

Are you a fan? Let us know!

This week on The BakerBoys Film Reviews, we dive into The Secret of NIMH (1982), Don Bluth’s beautifully animated, surprisingly intense adventure that proves “family film” can mean “emotionally devastating, but in a classy way.” We follow Mrs. Brisby, a widowed field mouse, as she risks everything to save her sick son, only to get pulled into a dangerous world of experiments, secret societies, and power struggles that feel way bigger than a mouse should have to deal with.

We break down what makes the film hit so hard: the shadowy tone, the iconic visuals, the music, the voice performances, and why this story still stands out in the animation world decades later. Plus, we talk themes like courage, sacrifice, and the cost of intelligence, because nothing says “Saturday morning” like existential dread in a forest.

If you remember this movie as “that scary mouse one,” you’re not wrong. If you’ve never seen it, consider this your invitation to experience one of the boldest animated films of its era.

  • Oscar (1991) - Film Review
    Feb 8 2026

Are you a fan? Let us know!

The BakerBoys are back, and this time we’re reviewing Oscar (1991), the chaotic screwball comedy starring Sylvester Stallone as a gangster trying (and failing) to go legit for one single day. What follows is a rapid-fire mess of mistaken identities, secret engagements, missing money, and enough shouting to qualify as cardio.

We tried to keep this one mostly spoiler-free… but we also went on a few classic BakerBoys tangents, and yeah, spoilers probably slipped in like they own the place. So if you haven’t seen Oscar and want to go in totally fresh, consider this your friendly warning.

Grab a seat, pour something classy, and join us in the world of doors slamming, deals collapsing, and one man’s desperate attempt to become “respectable.”

Spoiler Warning: This episode may contain spoilers for Oscar (1991).
