This past year has been a roller coaster of good and bad. I've struggled with my health, family emergencies, and embarked on a long journey to improve my overall health. Along the way, I've regained my ability to write along with my motivation to do so. There are many benefits to reading multiple genres as a writer, here are my thoughts, as well as what I have been reading lately, including my opinions of those books.

Putting the extra effort into your story's opening is important. It is far too easy to write your story with a poor opening, which results in distancing your reader. Here are six examples of how NOT to start your book.
