  • Prop Stylist Robin Zachary - Her Career From Prop Styling to Creative Direction
    Aug 8 2021

We often hear about fashion and clothing stylists and even food stylists, but every bit as important is the prop stylist. The folks who curate all the finishing touches that give a shot its sense of time and place. Prop stylists are often the real behind the scenes heroes of the amazing images that we see in magazines and advertisements.

New York based Robin Zachary is a Prop stylist with experience at all levels of the creative process, from prop styling, to creative direction and even photography. With over 20 years of experience in the advertising capital of the world, I knew that Robin would be the perfect person to speak with to gain insight into the world of collaborating with prop stylists.

  • 20 Years and Over 800 Weddings Photographed With Joseph Ellis
    Jul 24 2021

Wedding Photography. So many new photographers decide to shoot weddings because they think it is a sound money making genre. So many wedding photography businesses fail quickly because said photographers had no idea how much work is actually involved in shooting a wedding and running a wedding business. It takes a special person to not only be good at wedding photography, but also to be able to make it a full-time business that supports a family of 4.

This was not the case for my guest Mr. Joseph Ellis. Along with his wife Stephanie, Joseph has shot over 800 weddings in the last 20 years after transitioning to weddings from his early career as a photojournalist. Together, the couple owns and operates Big Wall Family Photography studio in Dallas, Texas.

Joseph shared some great advice for new wedding photographers and lots of details about how he works with wedding couples and the gear he uses.

  • Five Things Learned From Budding Photographers with Marc Silber
    Jul 16 2021

I had a great conversation this week with Mr. Marc Silber. Marc is a life-long photographer, best-selling author three times over, filmmaker and host of the Advancing Your Photography YouTube series.

Marc started out learning darkroom skills and the basics of photography at the legendary Peninsula School in Menlo Park, CA, in the '60s. If you are not familiar with the Peninsula School, they are renowned for their no-grade approach to education and support of student collaboration, positive risk-taking, and creativity. Marc moved on to hone his skills to professional standards at the famed San Francisco Art Institute and has since moved into teaching photography in workshops all over the country.

One of the things I admire most about Marc is his dedication to education. Not just sharing his knowledge and experience, but his own continuing education, and you will see in his books, his videos, and even in our conversation, that he has a brilliant quote from an inspirational photographer for almost any situation.

But his quotes are not just focused on iconic names like Adams and Leibovitz. He also makes it a point to learn from new photographers. When I booked Marc to be on the podcast, he shared a list of things that he has recently learned from talking to budding photographers, and I thought that would make for a great conversation and provide some excellent teaching opportunities.

  • Elopement Photography with Photographer and Entrepreneur Brianna Parks
    Jul 8 2021

Who knew? Elopement Photography. I honestly didn't know it was a thing. I learned about this growing niche of wedding photography recently and in my search to find a great elopement photographer to speak with, I found an awesome photographer and entrepreneur — Brianna Parks.

Brianna is a 22-year-old California and Pacific Northwest elopement photographer who started a photography business after realizing a 9-5 job wasn't what she wanted to do with her life.

After two years of business in the traditional wedding scene, Brianna decided to take the leap and focus exclusively on elopements, or weddings with under 30 guests.

Her passion for her work is contagious and you will learn quite a bit from this young businesswoman — regardless of the genre of photography that you specialize in.

  • Erich Saide: What it takes to be successful as a photographer dealing with ADHD
    May 11 2021
This week, I had an amazing discussion with Vancouver based Erich Saide. Erich Saide is a Commercial, Fitness & Lifestyle, Celebrity and Portrait photographer specializing in producing exceptional, creative and technical images born out of his love of connecting with people.  Forming a relationship with his subjects as soon as possible is paramount to his success, being able to draw out the best in people sets his photography apart from the rest. Photography started as a love for experimenting with light and once he learned a thing or two through his studies, he became a master at manipulating light to compliment the wide variety of projects he has collaborated on over his 20 year career.  Some of his favourite clients include Advertising Agencies, Celebrities, PR Agencies and TV & Movie Productions. Winner of the Communication Arts 58th Photography Annual Competition.  If he isn't out shooting in Gastown, the area around his beautiful work/live studio loft in Vancouver, you might find him walking his dog Bella or taking advantage of the diverse city / mountainscapes that Vancouver has to offer. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Links Website URL https://www.erichsaide.com Instagram URL https://www.instagram.com/erichsaide Twitter URL https://www.twitter.com/erichsaide Founder: Humans Of Support initiative https://www.facebook.com/humansofsupport/ https://www.instagram.com/humansofsupport/ https://www.humansofsupport.org #HumansOfSupport  - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - TOGCHAT Resources Show Website: https://togchat.com Episode Web Page: https://www.joeedelman.com/erich-saide My Website & Portfolio: https://www.JoeEdelman.com Don't forget to check out THE LAST FRAME LIVE Wednesday evenings at 6:00PM ET US on YouTube!
