Brody Buster was a child prodigy on the harmonica and was already making appearances on major television shows like the Tonight’s Show with Jay Leno and the 90’s sitcom staple Full House, all before he turned 10 years old!!!

Brody was baptized into the blues scene in Kansas City at a very early age and began forging a career that has allowed him to share the stage with the likes of B.B. King, Keb Mo, Quincy Jones, Chaka Kahn and others!

As you’ll hear in the episode, his battle with addiction nearly took him completely out of the game altogether, but thankfully, he’s in recovery and back to playing live and he’s got a brand-new record perfectly titled, Redemption, coming out in the Spring of 2025.

Brody will also be playing one of the most unique gigs a guy could ever land this summer by performing on the Durango Blues Train in both May and August.

He spent 17 years as a preacher and Christian songwriter. He was well into middle-age before he become known as a hit songwriter with folks like Eric Church, Dierks Bentely, Jake Owen and Wynonna recording his songs.

Over his life he also battled addiction and in the midst of dealing with that and multiple stints in rehab, he started writing the best songs of his life.

He’s a true inspiration to all humans, not to mention, aspiring writers who think they have what it takes to write alongside the best songwriters in the world in Nashville.

RODNEY PYEATT

I was lucky to have a great group of musicians join me in the recording studio on my very first project back in 2003. The guy who handled all of the guitar work on that project was named Rodney Pyeatt.

Rodney, and those around him, realized he was a very talented guitar player early on in his life. His talents eventually led to him playing with some incredible musicians in his career including Selena, Rick Trevino, The Mike McClure Band & Stoney LaRue.

He’s now working a lot in the recording space as well as still working as a guitar player when his services are called upon. He’s had some amazing experiences and some that have been tragic in his life but as you’ll hear in the interview, he’s taken it in stride.

Through one of these events in his life he nearly lost his ability to play guitar completely when he nearly cut the index finger on his left hand completely off!

But you can’t keep a good man down for long and he’s still putting his God-given talents to work! He’s a good human being and one I’m glad to be lucky enough to call a friend!

This guy is on the road for nearly 300 dates a year, and has kept up that pace for a long while now. In this episode we talk about his early life and how getting a guitar in his teens changed the trajectory of his life.
