The Albanese government has requested that NSW and Queensland impose their own coal price caps, and is open to offering compensation to the states for any lost royalties,  The Reserve Bank of Australia has lifted interest rates by 0.25%, in its eighth straight rate rise, and a climate activist sentenced to 15 months’ jail for a protest on the Sydney Harbour Bridge is the niece of a senior minister in the NSW government who voted for anti-protest laws used to imprison her.
