  • 219: The Kidnapping of Carrie Lawson, Part 2
    Jun 17 2024
In the dark morning hours of September 11th 1991, in the small town of Jasper Alabama, a couple named Earl and Carrie Lawson were awoken by a fake emergency phone call that lured them out of the house. A masked man was waiting in their carport. Earl was bound with duct tape and the assailant forced Carrie their SUV and sped off into the darkness. Carrie had been kidnapped for ransom. It seemed like something you only saw in movies. In the last episode, I told you all about the parade of mistakes the FBI made in this case. Now we’re getting into the repercussions of those mistakes, and even more bad decisions…as Carrie Lawson’s life hung in the balance.

  • 218: The Kidnapping of Carrie Lawson, Part 1
    Jun 13 2024
In the wee hours of September 11, 1991, Earl and Carrie Lawson were awoken by an urgent phone call from a woman claiming to be a nurse who said Earl’s father was hospitalized and might not make it through the night. The couple threw on clothes and rushed out the door, only to be stopped by a masked man as they were getting in their Ford Explorer. He bound Earl with duct tape, then forced 25 year-old Carrie into the Explorer and raced off into the darkness. Their families were shocked to discover this was a kidnapping for ransom. It seemed like something you only saw in movies…but it was very real and they were terrified for Carrie. **Part 1 of 2.

Well researched

The crimes discussed in this podcast are well researched and the narrator is wonderfully sassy at proper moments as the details of the criminals are outlined.

Well written, heartfelt and contemplative

Erica shares background and scope to her presentations that help frame the tragedies she shares. It creates awareness of the crimes along with deep felt empathy for the people affected in these crimes. I personally love (and relate to) her frank southern insights and opinions that she respectfully interjects in her episodes too. Keep it up, girl!

Please, edit better.

This needs to edited better. On most of the episodes, it replays parts that have already been played.
Also. One does not retire from the military after only serving one tour of duty. They either got out of the military or choose not to reenlist, or was honorably or dishonorably discharged. One retires after serving 20 or more years. Even injured servicemen or called medically discharged. As she says words matter.

Not going to continue listening

I was appalled by this lady’s leniency of criminals, not going to listen to fake excuses.
