  • Texas vs. Michigan Prediction: 2025 Citrus Bowl
    Dec 23 2025

Jay Greeson and Chris Lee preview the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl between Texas and Michigan, and make predictions on the outcome and the over-under. Topics include: Michigan coach Sherrone Moore was fired after the Ohio State loss for a personal scandal. Interim coach Biff Poggi, who has an interesting life story, will take over. Is this a net positive or net negative for Michigan? Texas had bigger aspirations than the Cheeze-It Bowl as the Longhorns were the preseason No. 1 team. However, Texas played well down the stretch, winning six of seven games, and that included wins over Vanderbilt and Texas A&M. Michigan will be without its two best pass rushers in Derrick Moore and Jaishawn Barnham, as well as fifth-year starting offensive lineman Giovanni El-Hadi, Texas is without three All-American-level defenders in safety Michael Taafe, linebacker Anthony Hill and cornerback Malik Muhammad, in addition to key defensive linemen Trey Moore and Ethan Burke. On offense, the Longhorns will be without running back CJ Baxter and Jerrick Gibson as well as receiver DeAndre Moore. With all those defensive stars out, does this favor a more offensive-oriented game? Michigan got it done on the ground with a pair of terrific running backs Justice Haynes (formerly of Alabama) and Jordan Marshall. Michigan’s Bryce Underwood was one of the more highly-sought freshmen out of high school. Underwood’s passing numbers (nine touchdowns, six picks) were ordinary, but Underwood can run and could benefit from so much of the Longhorns' defense being out. Texas’s Arch Manning got better as the season progressed and should be highly motivated for this one.

  • Illinois vs. Tennessee Prediction: 2025 Music City Bowl
    Dec 23 2025

Jay Greeson and Chris Lee preview the Music City Bowl between Tennessee and Illinois. Topics include:

    • The Vols' 8-4 record was a disappointment, but they’ll be playing in Nashville and, perhaps, with a wish to bury a regular-season-ending loss to Vanderbilt and make better memories going into the offseason.

    • Illinois went 8-4 against a tough schedule, and Bret Bielema had the Fighting Illini ready to play last year, when Illinois upset red-hot South Carolina in a bowl game.

    • Key players out for Tennessee include wide receiver Chris Brazzell II, cornerback Jermod McCoy (potential first-rounder who didn’t play this season), Boo Carter (Carter was kicked off the team before the end of the regular season), linebacker Arion Carter, running back Peyton Lewis and backup quarterback Jake Merklinger. Safety Colton Hood (potential high NFL Draft pick) has not opted out as of the date of this video, but could.

    • Key players out for Illinois include linebacker Gabe Jacas (its best pass rusher), All-Big Ten left tackle J.C. Davis and starting safety Matthew Bailey.

    • Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar is trying to find eligibility to play in 2026, so he looks motivated to play here. He’ll still have a pair of outstanding receivers in Braylon Staley and Mike Matthews available.

    • The Vols' defense wasn’t good on the whole, but it did find a pass rush in several games as well as the ability to put points on the board with defensive scores.

    • The Fighting Illini will put their faith in veteran quarterback Luke Altmeyer, who completed 68% of his passes and was picked just six times.

    • Illinois was good against the pass in the regular season on the whole, allowing just 5.9 yards on pass plays after adjusting for sacks.

    • Oregon’s offense scored 39.2 points per game and placed linemen Emmanuel Pregnon and center Iapani Laloulu on All-American teams, as well as tight end Kenyon Saddiq. while quarterback Dante Moore (3,046 passing yards) found wide receiver Malik Benson (8 TD) often and running backs Noah Whittington, Jordon Davison and Dierre Hill all ran for over 500 yards.

    • The Ducks defense (16.3 ppg, 271 ypg) also stood out thanks to All-American defensive back Dillon Thieneman (2 int) and All-Big 10 standouts that included linebacker Bryce Boettcher (113 tackles), defensive lineman Bear Alexander (49 tackles, 6.5 TFL), defensive back Brandon Finney (7 PBU), inside linebackerTeitum Tuitoi (14 TFL, 7.5 sacks)and defensive lineman A'Mauri Washington (4.5 TFL, 15 pressures, 6 PBU).

    • Texas Tech’s star-studded defense was among the nation’s best (10.9 ppg, 254 ypg, 4.0 yards per play). Linebacker Jacob Rodriguez (finished finished fifth in the Heisman voting; won Nagurski and Bednarik; had seven forced fumbles, four interceptions) was the country’s best defender. • The Red Raiders' offense put up 42.5 points and 480 yards per game and averaged 6.4 yards per play. • Georgia vs. Ole Miss Prediction: 2025 Sugar Bowl
    Dec 22 2025

Georgia and Ole Miss travel to New Orleans, La., for a College Football Playoff quarterfinal game in the Sugar Bowl. The game will be played New Year’s Day at 7 Central and will be shown on ESPN. The Southeastern 16 crew previews the game. Topics include:

We saw a motivated Ole Miss team handle Tulane easily, a game that showed the Rebels are ready to play for new coach Pete Golding. However, Ole Miss’s best two players--Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy--both suffered shoulder injuries vs. Tulane. Monitor the health of both entering the Sugar Bowl. Georgai’s defense, led by CJ Allen and KJ Bolden, played like some of Kirby Smart’s elite defenses in the season’s second half. They’ll need to play well because Chambiss is a dynamic player, plus, the Rebels can spread a defense out through the air as five pass-catchers--Harrison Wallace III, De’Zhaun Stribling, Deuce Alexander, Dae’Quan Wright and Cayden Lee--enter with over 500 yards receiving.

The Bulldogs have found plenty of offensive balance with physical running back Nate Frazier showing both speed and power, and quarterback Gunner Stockton showing he can make timely plays both through the air and with his feet when needed. Don’t sleep on Ole Miss’s defense, either. The Rebels gave consistent effort there and have stars in linebacker Suntarine Perkins, Princewill Umamielen and didn’t allow more than 26 points in any of their last six games. Both teams are elite on special teams.

  • Indiana vs. Alabama Prediction: 2025 Rose Bowl
    Dec 22 2025

Alabama and Indiana travel to Los Angeles for a College Football Playoff quarterfinal game in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day at 3 Central, a game shown on ESPN. The Southeastern 16 crew previews the game. Topics include:

The undefeated Hoosiers are the No. 1 seed in the Playoff and are rested after a Big Ten title-game win over Ohio State that vaulted quarterback Fernando Mendoza to the Heisman Trophy, also thanks to protection behind second-team AP All-American tackle Carter Smith. Alabama fell behind 17-0 at Oklahoma but avenged an eariier loss to the Sooners thanks to better special-teams play and a huge pick-6 by cornerback Zabien Brown.

The Crimson Tide have to figure out a better rushing attack than they’ve shown, and must get Jam Miller going if they’re going to pull an upset. Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson was money, and got some help from Germie Bernard and Lotzier Brooks vs. Oklahoma. However, the Crimson Tide need a better performance out of Ryan Williams (105 yards receiving in his last five contests) or some other capable offensive player to pull an upset.

Indiana had a nice rushing tandem of Kaelon Black (799 yards) and Roman Hemby (918) as well as balance at receiver (804 yards from Omar Cooper Jr., 515 from Charlie Becker and Elijah Surratt’s 687). Indiana’s defense was elite. The Hoosiers gave up 11.6 points and 259 yards per game and forced turnovers on 3.4% of snaps. Lineman Tyrique Hunter and linebacker Aiden Fisher each earned third-team All-American honors while linebackers Roiijah Hardy (eight sacks) and Isaiah Jones (six) brought the pass rush, and defensive back Louis Moore had eight picks.
