  • 23: A Fantastic Grab Bag
    Aug 12 2025

This week, Scott and I have some fun with the Fantastic Four, talking about a mix of issues that caught our eye for all kinds of reasons. There are funny moments, memorable collaborations, and plenty of Silver and Bronze Age storytelling. It is a lighthearted trip through Marvel’s First Family that is all about enjoying the ride.

  • 22: The Fantastic Four: First Steps – Marvel’s First Family Gets a New Start
    Aug 3 2025

This week, Scott and I step away from the comics to talk about the new movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps. It’s a rare thing for us to focus on a film, but this one got our attention. Consider this your spoiler alert. The only real spoiler might be that there’s no Impossible Man!

If you’ve seen the movie, come hang out with us for a laid-back conversation about Marvel’s first family: Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), and Ben Grimm (the Thing), who proves once again that you can take the guy out of Yancy Street, but not Yancy Street out of the guy.

  • 21: Secrets, Clones, and Confusion: Amazing Spider-Man 141-150
    Jul 27 2025

This week, Scott and I take on one of the most talked-about storylines from the Bronze Age of Spider-Man. We’re looking at Amazing Spider-Man issues 141 to 150, which mark the beginning of what would later become known as the Clone Saga. These stories originally ran fifty years ago in 1975 and shocked readers with the apparent return of Gwen Stacy, a character whose death had already become a defining moment for both Peter Parker and Marvel Comics as a whole. Grab a beer, light up a cigar and hang with us as we finally get around to talking proper Peter Parker/Spider-man!

  • 20: Daredevil: Born Again (Part 2)
    Jul 20 2025

This week, Scott and I continue our discussion of Daredevil: Born Again. We left off right in the middle of the story, and things only get more intense from here. This arc has been a longtime favorite of Scott's, and it’s been fascinating for me to experience it for the first time. We wrap up our thoughts on what makes this such a landmark Daredevil story and why it still holds up today.

  • 19: Daredevil: Born Again (Part 1)
    Jul 14 2025

This week, Scott and I begin our discussion of Daredevil: Born Again. This story has been on our list since the beginning, and it was also requested by a listener. It was a favorite of Scott's when it first came out, but this is my first time reading it. We had such a good time talking about it that we were forced to cut the episode into two parts!

  • 18: Alpha Flight Part 2: Back into the North
    Jul 6 2025

This week, Scott and I return to the world of Alpha Flight for part two of our conversation about the first twelve issues of the series, along with the “return” of Guardian that follows. We talk about John Byrne’s evolving approach to the characters and how the book both fits within and breaks away from typical Marvel team books.

  • 17: Alpha Flight: Maple Masks and Marvel Mutants
    Jun 29 2025

This week, Scott and I kick off a two-part dive into one of my childhood favorites and a first-time read for Scott. We're talking about John Byrne's Alpha Flight. Pull up a chair, kick up your feet, and hang out with us as we look at the first issues, focusing on the original lineup and Byrne’s approach to building a team that is purely Canadian.

  • 16: Marvel Memories: The Issues We Never Forgot
    Jun 23 2025

This week, Scott and I each chose some of the Marvel comics that made the biggest impression on us when we were young readers. These are the stories that helped shape our love of comics and the characters we still talk about today. Our picks include issues of Spider-Man, Iron Man, the Fantastic Four, Captain America, Conan, and even a few monster tales. So pull up a chair and light up a cigar (that’s my preference, but you be you) and hang out with us as we look back on what made these comics so powerful then and how they hold up now.
