  • Do You Have Any Wite-Out?
    Apr 23 2025

Send us a text to recommend a beer or tell us what you like about the show!

Welcome back to Short Pour and this week our episode title has a couple of meanings. We are checking out Fat Tire by New Belgium Brewing, but we have actually done this beer before. We never downloaded the files for that episode in time so unfortunately we just lost that episode. We decided to fix our mistake, and what better way to fix a mistake than Wite-Out?

Technically we focus on Liquid Paper and Presto! makes a weirdly large impact, but it's all correctional fluid anyway. We talk about its inception and how the creator made IBM look like chumps. We also check our a review from someone who tells us how much we won't like them from the start. Turns out, pretty accurate.

  • How do Metal Detectors Work?
    Apr 9 2025

Welcome back to another week of Short Pour! This week we are checking out the most generic looking can in Blended with Lumber #6. While the can is basically blank, this beer has a ton of character!

With just a metal can, we decided to check out metal detectors. We dive into how they work, and question how to trick them. We discuss the walk-through, wands, and the ones that look like mine sweepers. We have a brief story involving James Garfield, Alexander Graham-Bell, and a couple of bullets. While these airport and concert venue main stays are pretty common today, we also look at the limits of how well they can actually work. Of course, we also get distracted with debating where people place their wallets in their pants, a tale about the alarms going off in a Target, and questioning the status of one of us being bionic.

We end with a review that starts off strong but goes off the rails with a Jurassic Park reference and shout out to Wayne Knight!

  • Why Did Humans Start Drinking Milk?
    Mar 26 2025

Send us a text to recommend a beer or tell us what you like about the show!

This week we ask the question, "how did we find out we could drink milk?". The answer leads us to ancient cows, gut science, and some laughs along the way. We discuss this over a cream ale from River Bluff Brewing!

  • Space Jam

Welcome back to Short Pour! This week we are checking out Buzzer Beater by Prairie Artisan Ales with a certain March basketball tournament right around the corner. The drink turns out to have a lot in common with Ms. Lippy's car. Good thing St. Patrick's day is coming up with this green drink!

Our topic this week comes back to one of the most iconic buzzer beaters from our chidhood as we recap the movie Space Jam. We revisit all of the antics of the Looney Tunes, Michael Jordan playing baseball, and a certain Seinfeld character becoming a pancake. Also, Bill Murray made a huge impact on one of us in this movie.

Welcome back to another episode of Short Pour. This week we check out Hop Splash, a hop infused carbonated water, by Sierra Nevada and our topic this week is carbonated water.

We explore the different types of carbonated water, the process, and why we make it the way we do. We may not be able to get over how this thing smells though!

We also get a review from a person that is all about it but we're not sure if we agree!

  • The Olympic Torch
    Feb 12 2025

Send us a text to recommend a beer or tell us what you like about the show!

Welcome back to another episode of Short Pour. This week we check out Survival Blond by Martin City and our topic this week is the Olympic torch.

We explore its meanings and origins along with notable relays. One involved flaming underwear, another was doused by public transport rules and regulations, and one has a weirdly similar setup to an episode of King of the Hill. Also, one used a laser which is sweet. Eventually the passing of the torch leads to a small existential crisis, but we bring it back around!

We also get a review that's local to us and teaches us a new phrase!

  • Narwhals
    Jan 15 2025

Send us a text to recommend a beer or tell us what you like about the show!

This week we are checking out Dark Matter from Logboat Brewing and we definitely taste the coffee flavor in this one!

We almost went down the rabbit hole of dark matter, but decided to focus on the narwhal on the can instead. A double narwhal, if you will. Join us as we discuss some pretty cool features about this apparently controversial animal. Seriously, why do so many people think they are made up?? We talk about some of their weird quirks and the unfortunate fate of their upper lip and we get quite the water boy joke setup this week.

We also looked into some mythology about the narwhal in different cultures. One involves a blind son who is tricked by his mom and eventually gets his revenge. Spoiler alert: doesn't end well for the mom. They were also believed to be magic in medieval Europe.
