Sharon Marshall died in April of 1990 after spending five days in intensive care, her body found broken on the side of an Oklahoma highway, groceries scattered around her as police labeled it a hit and run. To doctors, her injuries raised quiet doubts and to friends, her husband’s behavior set off alarms Wihtout context however, the case stalled almost as quickly as it began.
What no one knew at the time was that Sharon Marshall was not her real name, and that the man claiming to be her husband had been controlling her life since she was a child. To understand how a bright, capable young woman ended up dying under an alias, investigators would have to unravel a story that stretched back decades, across stolen identities, missing children, and a predator who hid in plain sight.
