Shamanic Healing: How Trauma Is Held in Energy Body

Today I'm speaking with one of my teachers, shamanic practitioner and psychotherapist, Ann M. Drake. Ann and her guides are a treasure trove of wisdom and inspiration around the healing of the soul and even the world. In 1967, Ann Drake was a Peacecorps volunteer stationed on a remote island in Borneo near Malaysia. She went there to teach, but as it turned out, she realized that the real reason for her being there was to learn: from the loving, cooperative villagers around her, and from the peaceful energies of the land itself. It was there that she first met the Bomoh, an Islamic Unani Shaman whose grandmother was also a shaman and whose healing lineage was centuries-old. In 1992, Ann returned to Borneo for initiation by the Bomoh. She received powerful transmissions and learned many healing techniques from her teacher. She went on to integrate the transmissions, to learn more about contemporary shamanism by studying with Sandra Ingerman and Michael Harner, and set to work bridging her two worlds; the realms of clinical psychotherapy and that of the energetic dimensions, in order to better heal her clients and herself.

Ann is the author of two books, Healing of the Soul: Shamanism and Psyche and The Energetic Dimension: Understanding our Karmic, Ancestral and Cultural Imprints. She is currently at work on a third book. Though there is darkness in the world, Ann reassures us that the light is more powerful than the dark, and that it is worth all the soul searching and healing to release patterns of fear and come into our true hearts.
