And on this day in 1956... Elvis returned to the Memphis Fairgrounds for the Mid-South Fair, this time joined by actor Nick Adams. During the visit, Elvis made a surprise appearance onstage alongside Irish tenor Dennis Day, giving fans an unexpected blend of rock and tradition in a single show.
