September 28, 1997 - Catherina McKiernan wins Berlin Marathon

Today is September 28, 2025 and on this day in 1997, Irish runner Catherina McKiernan won the 24th annual Berlin Marathon in what was both a course and national record, as well as the fastest marathon debut by a woman in history at that time.
