Cultivating Self-Love can be elusive for many people, as our judgements and shame hold us separate from truly experiencing self-love. In our culture what many people think of as loving themselves is really indulgence, a consumerism approach to making ourselves feel better through our 5 senses. True self-love, in my opinion, is an active and consistent willingness to get to know oneself and to accept all that we are, the stuff we are proud of and the shadow parts of ourselves that hold shame. Compassion for all the parts of us is an important first step. To truly create life as you want and to release the past, acceptance and self-love are a critical piece of that creation. It is the key to everything else - our health, our relationships and what we put out into the world is all an expression and extension of how we love ourselves.
