Pokes' 18-Year Head Coach Needs to Win Big Next Season to Keep His Job According to Those Close to OSU Program Mike Gundy may be losing his grip on the Oklahoma State football program. Cody Stovall of the Locked-On Oklahoma State Football Podcast joins the show to talk the continued exodus of Cowboys players from the program, which has apparently led to an ultimatum from OSU Officials of Win or Else for Gundy in 2023. Oklahoma State Coach Mike Gundy has become a caricature of a college football coach, which is to say he's a "Coach" in name only aside from the fact that he still draws a very real paycheck, though the responsibilities that are outlined in his yearly-renewing 5-Year Perpetual deal with OSU that pays him nearly $8 Million per season to perform are -- at best -- being mailed in at this point. Recruiting isn't high on his list of priorities these days (OSU's signed class of 17 recruits this offseason ranks 63rd in the 247 Composite Rankings without a single 4-Star recruit in the bunch, and the highest-rated recruit in the fold for 2023 is QB Zane Flores of Nebraska, ranked 467th overall in 247 Sports' Composite ranks). Judging by Gundy's (non)-reaction to the Cowboys' freefall in the second half of the conference season in 2022, and the utter indifference to the fact that multiple starters with remaining eligibility chose to leave his program for greener pastures, it would appear that winning isn't overly important to Gundy anymore, either.
