  • Meet Eeyore: The Sweet Cat with a Grumpy Face and a Big Heart
    Sep 18 2025
Don’t let Eeyore’s grumpy face fool you... this 5-year-old domestic shorthair is a total sweetheart once he warms up. He is our Pet of the Week and came to the Connecticut Humane Society from local animal control and was a bit timid at first, but now he’s showing just how much he loves people and pets. Eeyore is looking for a calm home, ideally with kids over 12, where he can take his time to adjust and settle in. While he hasn’t had much experience with other pets, he may enjoy having a furry friend. Eeyore does have some special needs, but he has so much love and companionship to offer the right family. He’s available now at the Newington branch, so come meet this sweet boy and see why his “grumpy” face will steal your heart.

  • Meet Leo: A High-Energy Carolina Dog Looking for His Perfect Match
    Sep 11 2025
Today's Connecticut Humane Society Pet of the Week is Leo! A 2-year-old Carolina dog with tons of love and energy to share! He came to the Connecticut Humane Society from local animal control and is now ready for his forever family.

As an adult, Leo is already housebroken and even knows a few tricks. While he may be a little shy at first, once he warms up, he’s all about fun, play, and adventure. Leo thrives with other dogs and would love a canine companion, though he hasn’t had much experience with cats yet. With his big personality and high energy, Leo will do best with a family who has experience with large breeds and can give him the structure, exercise, and attention he deserves.

He’s available now at the Waterford location. You can apply online at cthumane.org/adopt to meet him!

  • Meet Bosley: A Playful Puppy with a Gorgeous Brindle Coat Looking for His Forever Home
    Sep 4 2025
This week’s Connecticut Humane Society Pet of the Week is Bosley an 8-month-old mixed breed pup with a heart full of love and energy to spare! With his striking black and brindle coat, Bosley could have a mix of lab, shepherd, or pit bull in him, but what we do know for sure is that he’s 100% adorable.

Bosley came to the Connecticut Humane Society after his previous family could no longer care for him, and now he’s looking for a new start. He’s a sweet, playful dog who loves to be active. Since he’s still young and growing, Bosley needs a family with adults or teens who can keep up with his energy, continue his training, and give him the exercise and enrichment he thrives on.

If you’re ready for long walks, playtime, and lots of puppy love, Bosley may just be the perfect match. He’s available at the Connecticut Humane Society’s Waterford location. To meet him, book an appointment at cthumane.org/adopt.
