In this episode, Scott is joined by returner to the podcast Gabriel Angrand (aka AVG) and Dare to Listen (DTL) Founder Trisha Wood. The episode focuses on the Dare To Listen Poetry event hosted at the Kanvas venue in Philadelphia on Sunday August 10th.
The first quarter of the episode explains the backstory of DTL from Trish’s vantage point as the founder and curator. AVG chimes in with some of the experience he’s had while attending DTL over the years. Scott also adds in his perspective which leads to a conversation about how Trish chooses her lineups.
From there the trio dives into the day of the event on August 10th, 2025. The conversation ebbs and flows as they each take time to discuss the more than dozen poets who performed. Scott’s performance on the lineup is one of the focal points of this section.
To wrap up the episode Scott, Trish, and AVG talk at length about Brandon Leake and RedLion’s co-featured closing set. They also talk about the impact of the event and why supporting curators is vital to the success of the poetry ecosystem. We hope you enjoy today’s episode.
