This episode sets the context for this podcast series. Marcia Ore, the creator of Black Women in Policing is interviewed by Monica Mwanje from Monica Mwanje Creative Solutions Ltd.
Marcia shares an insight into her 30 years of lived experience as a Black Woman in Policing, her involvement in the Black Police Association at a local and national level, as well as championing gender equality Women Sergeants Federation Representative and the first Black woman on the executive of the British Association of Women in Policing.
She shared how these experiences have led her to work as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practitioner and specialist since transitioning from policing.
As a result of the podcast series, Black Women in Policing , Marcia and Karen Geddes QPM started an organisation called Women In the Shade with a clear vision: to create an environment where the talents, unique experiences, and perspectives of Black women are not just acknowledged, but respected and valued. We refuse to accept the status quo where Black women in uniform services continue to face barriers and obstacles in their professional journeys.
