This week, we get classical, as we cover the greatest love story ever told, Romeo and Juliet, and the iconic 90s adaptation starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. From the designer costumers, to the killer soundtrack, as well as the Mercutio of it all, we get into what makes this one of the all time great!

You both had such a funny and insightful take on both Shakespeare and the movie adaptation.

Some random thoughts while listening:

In high school Romero and Juliet was sold as the greatest love story ever, when in fact Romeo is just getting over Rosaline,suddenly and Juliet is a rebound

Maaaan those gun fighting scenes are cringe. Everyone’s get a gun, everyone’s a terrible shot- where are the cops..Modern guns in the place of swords makes sense in the context of the modern adaptation, but I’m not sure it worked; I’d have to see it again to be sure

I had forgotten that Harold Perrineau was in the movie. He was good in Lost. I haven’t seen From (yet) but I’m happy he’s found success in mid life

Bonus points if anyone saw Hot Fuzz, with it’s intentionally God awful adaptation - featuring Lovefool by the Cardigans

After hearing your take I’m convinced that the movie elevated the original play.
