Pete Gower continues our sermon series unpacking the letter to the Romans .
How can we live together in peace and unity?
That’s a massive question right now in our society. We are constantly rubbing shoulders with people who are different from us. Different backgrounds, different cultures, different languages or accents,
different political opinions, different ways of seeing the world, different values about what’s important.
And in the world, difference almost always leads to disagreement, distance and division.
Our automatic response is to distance ourselves from those who are different to us and who disagree with us. And that has the potential to create the kind of deep divisions that we are seeing in our society.
But it’s not just a problem out there. It’s also a problem in here.
Because the same thing happens in the church – in our church.
We are different in all those same ways. And it presents the same challenge – how can we live together in peace and unity?
