Officer Rolland Smith was killed while on patrol in Chelsea, Iowa, during an attempted bank robbery.

Apple Grove John Doe was killed along the bank of Camp Creek in eastern Polk County. Some of his belongings shed light on who he may have been, but his identity is still lost to time.
