Mary is crying outside an empty tomb. The miracle has already happened—but she doesn’t know it yet. Then Jesus asks her a simple question: “Why are you crying?” It’s the first question of the resurrection. And it reminds us that Jesus meets us in real grief—not polished faith. Easter doesn’t pretend that loss isn’t painful. It promises that loss is not the end. This Sunday, we begin Questions Jesus Asked and explore how the risen Lord meets us in our tears and turns mourners into witnesses.

Today we gather to celebrate the most monumental event in human history—the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. On Easter morning, the final “I Am” statement is spoken into our deepest human fear. Jesus does not merely promise resurrection; he is the resurrection and the life. Because the Great I AM has entered death and emerged victorious, life now has the final word.
