  • The Ass Gallows (The Gallows 2015 Review)
    Feb 18 2026

This week on Real Horrorshow, we’re heading back to high school theatre with a review of The Gallows (2015), a found-footage supernatural horror film from Blumhouse. Set twenty years after a fatal onstage accident during a small-town school play, the film follows a group of students who attempt to resurrect the cursed production in a misguided act of remembrance—with terrifying consequences.

Written and directed by Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff and starring Reese Mishler, Pfeifer Brown, Ryan Shoos, and Cassidy Gifford, The Gallows taps into the uniquely nerve-wracking world of school auditoriums, stage lights, and unfinished business. Does it earn its scares, or should some shows stay closed forever? Let’s break it down.

  • Real Minishow Ep. 89 - Don't Touch My Stuff
    Feb 2 2026

This episode was recorded prior to the incident in Minnesota involving the murder of Alex Pretti by federal agents. It was scheduled to go live the day after that event; however, we decided to hold the release, as it felt wrong to carry on as usual when so much continues to go wrong in our country.

Episodes will be back on schedule shortly. Thank you all for understanding, and I hope we’re able to provide some levity during these difficult times.

    Fuck ICE.

  • We can tell you're a filmmaker, bro (Butterfly Kisses 2018 Review)
    Jan 18 2026

December was a rough month off-mic, fighting illness and holiday chaos, but we’re back now to finally ask:

What if the found footage was real…and the scariest thing wasn’t the monster, but the filmmaker?

This week, we’re digging into Butterfly Kisses (2018), Erik Kristopher Myers’ razor-sharp found footage deconstruction that asks a deeply uncomfortable question: how far will an artist go to be believed?

The film follows Gavin York, a documentarian who stumbles upon a box of tapes left behind by two film students investigating an urban legend known as Peeping Tom. What starts as a forgotten student project quickly spirals into obsession, as Gavin sets out to “prove” the footage is authentic—dragging his own film crew (and his sanity) down with him.

Part found footage, part academic critique, Butterfly Kisses plays in the same sandbox as The Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity, and The Last Exorcism, then calmly turns to the camera and asks whether we actually want these stories to be true. It’s less about jump scares and more about ego, credibility, and the uniquely modern horror of needing proof at any cost.

Found footage skeptics welcome. Film nerds encouraged. Peeping Tom is watching either way.

We also talk about hockey, Primate, and Strange Harvest. We’re girls of simple taste.
