    You expect a quiet suburb west of Detroit to feel safe. Neat streets, glowing lampposts over snow-covered lawns — the picture of normal life. Jessica and her husband thought so too when they rented a small house in Westland, Michigan, just four miles from the crumbling remains of the infamous Eloise Asylum.     Two businessmen arrived for a mid-week stay, unaware that the hotel — built in 1880 and once the starting point for local haunted tours — still had stories to tell. The lobby was eerily empty, no staff at the desk, no guests in sight. They approached the old, slow elevator… and that’s when they saw her.

    A pale, elegant woman dressed in turn-of-the-century clothing, ankle-high lace-up boots, wide-brimmed hat. She smiled politely and stepped back, saying, “You can drive the elevator.”

    She pressed for the second floor — a level closed to the public for renovations. As the doors slid open, the woman seemed to float out, gliding silently down the dark hallway. The men noticed, horrified, that she had no visible feet.

    Locals say the hotel is one of Parkersburg’s most haunted spots, and the passing of its famed storyteller, Susan Sheppard, has only deepened the mystery.

    In Topeka, Kansas, a family nicknamed their resident spirit “Fred.” Decades earlier, a man who lived there wasn’t allowed to drink inside the house. He’d sit in his car at night with the radio on — until one night his heart gave out. His wife found him dead in the car.

    Years later, a twelve-year-old living in that same home began sensing a presence. One morning, after staying up late watching The Conjuring, he rushed to get ready for school when he heard two sharp claps echo from the dark entryway — identical to the chilling scene in the movie. He froze, peered around the corner… no one there. His parents joked that it was just Fred telling him to hurry up so he wouldn’t miss the bus.

    That same storyteller later attended Benedictine College in Atchison — widely called the most haunted town in Kansas. One night, while driving past the infamous Sallie House, he snapped a photo of the dark home. In the top-left window, the image revealed a blurry figure of a woman watching the street. His friend, seeing it with his own eyes, slammed on the gas to get away.

    Whether it’s a protective spirit named Fred or the ominous figure in the Sallie House window, these encounters prove Kansas has hauntings that are as real as they are chilling.

the adds, so many adds, so many of the exact same add very little story. Just not worth it. literally listened to the same 2 adds over and over. it wouldnt let me leave a review until i finished the full 17 min of adds ugh. still haven't heard the story.
