  • Self Regulation - As an adult
    Mar 24 2026

Self-regulation isn’t just something we teach our children…

It’s something we have to live, every single day.

    Because let’s be honest —

there are moments when everything in you wants to react.

    When the instructions aren’t followed.

When the same boundary is pushed again.

When the overwhelm builds — theirs and yours.

And especially in the world of neurodiversity, where communication can look different, where processing takes time, where emotions can feel big and all-consuming…

    Staying calm isn’t easy.

    But it matters.

Because our children borrow our nervous systems.

They look to us to understand what safety feels like.

So sometimes the work isn’t correcting the behaviour straight away.

    Sometimes the work is pausing.

    Breathing.

Choosing to respond instead of react.

Not because we always get it right —

but because we’re trying to be the steady place they can come back to.

    Your calm is not weakness.

    It’s leadership.

    It’s safety.

    It’s love in action.

And on the days when it feels hard to hold that space…

just know, you’re not alone in that either. 🌈🤍

  • Laughing Through the Chaos - Episode 4
    Mar 10 2026

    Sometimes parenting is beautiful.

    Sometimes it’s messy.

    And sometimes… it’s absolute chaos.

In this episode of Rainbow Genes, we’re talking about those moments when things don’t go the way you expected at all — the plans fall apart, the kids do the complete opposite of what you asked… and somehow it turns into something unexpectedly funny.

In the moment, the chaos can drive you completely insane.

The noise, the mess, the “why is this happening right now?” feeling.

But then later… you look back and realise those were the moments that became the stories.

    The memories you laugh about.

The little family legends that get retold at dinner tables years later.

Because sometimes the magic isn’t in everything going perfectly.

Sometimes it’s in learning to laugh right in the middle of the chaos.

Parenting our incredible kids — neurodiverse or not — often means letting go of the script and embracing the unexpected.

    And those unexpected moments?

They often become the most special ones of all.

Please share your stories of when you just had to laugh. 🌈

  • It's OK if you don't have all the answers
    Mar 3 2026

As parents… we don’t always have the answers.

    And that’s okay.

Some days it’s trial and error.

Some days it’s advice from someone who’s been there.

Some days… we’re just figuring it out as we go.

Parenting was never meant to be perfect.

It was meant to be present.

And when you’re raising a child with additional needs?

The learning curve can feel even steeper.

    The decisions feel heavier.

    The doubt can get louder.

    But here’s the truth —

    Every parent is navigating unknowns.

Whether your child is neurotypical or neurodivergent…

We are all adjusting. Adapting. Learning.

There isn’t a manual for your specific child.

    There’s love.

    There’s observation.

    There’s courage.

And sometimes… there’s trying something, realising it doesn’t work, and trying again.

    That doesn’t make you incapable.

    It makes you human.

You are allowed to grow alongside your child.

You are allowed to not know — and still be a good parent.

    We’re learning too.

And we’re walking this with you. 🌈🤍

    Much Love,
