Today, we are joined by the New York-based powerhouse in industrial design, Inna Lobel, with a career spanning Apple, MIIT Media Lab, and most notably as Head of Industrial Design at Frog (part of Cape Gemini). In this episode of REDACTED, Inna shares lessons from working in research to what it takes to lead with both precision and empathy as a creative director. We unpack the creative tensions between innovation and execution, and why design leadership is ultimately about culture, not control.

Hosted by Lucy Bishop and Fraser Greenfield with guest Inna Lobel.

In this episode, the (REDACTED) team are joined by Nancy Malik, Industrial Designer + CMF + Trends for Lenovo.

Beginning her career in Australia, Nancy pivoted from a diverse background in youth work and fashion to following her dreams in Japan.

Nancy’s love for industrial design was sparked after seeing student drawings of cars when studying fashion design at UTS, and it was through the practical skills she gained at consultancies with IDE Group and Outerspace Design that she eventually landed at Lenovo. As a result of navigating the early challenges of COVID-19 and remote work in Tokyo, Nancy emerged as an expert in CMF, Styling and Trends, focusing on the importance of trend forecasting, sustainability, integrating future design techniques and being a cultural connector within Lenovo’s global team.

Hosted by Lucy Bishop and Louis Mills with guest Nancy Malik.
