  • Pilot - Getting started when you're far from ready
    Jan 19 2023

Welcome to our very first podcast, ever!

On this pilot episode, we talk about the two biggest reasons why people don't take action - fear and imposter syndrome. Co-host Emma Boardman has launched many new businesses over the years, seemingly effortlessly and certainly without fear of failure. Are some people immune to fear, or is this just a myth?

Apologies for the sound quality - we weren't quite ready but we started anyway!

  • Episode 2 - Why, What and Who
    Jan 26 2023

In our second episode, we explore what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and who we’d like to reach out to.

We've also made leaps and bounds in our tech setup - proper microphones, and a fabulous online recording studio that allows us to record from two different locations - if you're an international collaboration team like us, check out Riverside!

Finally, we love feedback. We had some brilliant comments and suggestions following episode 1, so please let us know what you'd like to hear more of, less of, and any suggestions.

  • Episode 4 - Reset, Realign and Re-energise!
    Feb 10 2023

    Welcome to Episode 4.

Last week, Emma and Steve lost a bit of their collective mojo, and fell quite out of sync. This week, by staying open and honest, and in the mindset of trust, they’re trying to reset, realign and re-energise. Let’s go!

    Timings (mm:ss)

1:43Emma has new glasses today, reflecting on how her eyes aren't as good as they used to be. Steve has a quote but can't remember who said it…(post production… still searching!).

3:20Emma's feeling really grateful for the collaboration. Starting a business in partnership is a totally new world for her, hard work but a great opportunity to grow and expand.

9:29Shout-out to Nicola Wills, who's social post re: TEDx Ibiza in March 2023 inspired Emma to grab a ticket.

16:01Shout-out to Jakub (Warrior Growth Academy Podcast), who's inspired Steve to start this podcast.

17:52Emma has been circling back to her early event management days.

18:38Remixing a 90s pop classic for our event? Turns out, it might not be so difficult / expensive to do…

22:40Looping back on the idea of an in-person event: thoughts on venue capacity and overall vibe.

24:24After 4 episodes, we're starting to find our feet… but the episodes haven't been too structured and might be difficult for the audience to extract any value. So, we touched briefly on focusing each future episode on a specific topic.

25:20Shout-out to Tom, Steve's business partner in his parallel business. We always take time to reset and realign so he's grateful to do the same with Emma.

27:44Shout-out to The Curious Mindset - not a swinger's club! - as the duo talk about finding their personal limits for pursuing multiple parallel projects.

29:18Steve sums up today's conversation, which has been a great conversation about the difficulties in collaborating when you're such different people… but it's so worth it!

  • Episode 5 - Pause and Pivot
    Mar 1 2023

    Welcome to Episode 5.

For reasons related to normal life, Steve and Emma have been out of touch for a couple of weeks. This has given them an unplanned opportunity to pause and reflect on the Ready Steady journey so far.

    Timings (mm:ss)

1:10 - Emma has been poorly recently - but has been having a great time with her son at the same time!

2:34 - Emma shares her initial thoughts on where we are, 4 episodes in, and where it could go next.

4:05 - Steve gives an overview of his perspective on our journey to date, and what his focus has been in the last fortnight.

9:01 - Meanwhile, Emma's other business venture has really kicked off in an exciting way.

13:43 - The duo reflect on the podcast so far, and whether it's adding value to the audience.

15:24 - "The Infinite Game" - a concept that seems very relevant right now - has been written about by both James P Carse and Simon Sinek.

17:44 - Failing fast - a great concept that means positive value is obtained, even just from getting started.

22:54 - The duo talk about what they've learnt by creating this podcast.

28:19 - Steve is thinking about launching a podcast to talk about leadership for the new era

33:45 - Emma talks about getting older - she wants to age naturally and disgracefully!

38:44 - Wrapping up the podcast for now...
