  • Message | Unafraid (2 Timothy 1:6-14)
    Aug 11 2025

As Paul launches into the final letter he would write to Timothy, he begins with a word of encouragement. He reminds Timothy of his calling…and he reminds Timothy of his giftedness…and lastly he reminds Timothy of the Spirit that God has given him.

And then Paul invites Timothy into his suffering. Suffering that is worth it because of the grace of God that was given through Jesus. Suffering isn’t something to be ashamed of because we serve a savior who suffered.

Paul told Timothy not to be ashamed because Paul was in prison. And to be willing to join him in his suffering. And Timothy would suffer. Hebrews 13:23 indicates Timothy was eventually put in prison himself.

  • Message | Generational Faith (2 Timothy 1:1-5)
    Aug 4 2025

God’s plan from the beginning was that faith was to be passed down from generation to generation. The old testament is filled with commands to share with your children the great things God has done. In Malachi 2:15, God says the reason God takes 2 and makes them 1 in marriage is so that they will produce Godly offspring.

Both Paul and Timothy come from faith filled families. Paul was a Jewish man who’s ancestors served God faithfully. Timothy faith came from his mother and grandmother. His life was changed by their faithfulness.

  • Message | Flee sin, pursue righteousness (1 Timothy 6:11-16)
    Jul 21 2025

As Paul wraps up his letter to Timothy, Paul gives him a charge. To flee from the sins that entraps so many pastors, the pursuit of money. And encourages him to instead pursue righteousness, godliness and the like.

It isn’t enough for us to flee something…we also have to pursue something.

Paul implores him to fight the good fight of faith. Keeping faith is a fight. Apparently Paul doesn’t believe it will just happen. But it is something that must be fought for. He also places the onus on Timothy to “take hold of the eternal life” that comes with the good confession of faith.

It is clear that Paul does not assume that one can just coast to the finish line of faith but you must persevere to the end.a
