Prostate Cancer: The Road to Recovery

De: Stone
  • Resumen

  • At 52, I found myself facing a life-altering diagnosis: prostate cancer, quickly followed by the realization it had spread to my spine. A man's journey often follows unexpected paths, and mine led to a battle against stage 4 malignant adenocarcinoma. I wanted to understand this enemy inside me so I started reading, made dietary changes, created anti-cancer recipes, and started leaning on a newfound community of support. They say all men will face this battle if they live long enough. My journey began earlier than most, but the road to recovery is one we'll explore together. Prednisone and Lupron affect bone loss and bone growth. There are things you can do which your doctor may not be talking about with you. Get sunlight and take Vitamin D supplements. Take magnesium. Make sure you're getting enough protein. Do resistance training. Walk everyday. These are some of the things that will counterbat the loss of bone density. Great podcast on what it’s like to have prostate cancer

Like how you let the listeners into your personal journey. Very helpful for someone just starting to navigate their situation and the options they have available for treatment. For many I believe it’s the side effects and quality of life after consideration that will/should drive what’s the right treatment option for them. Listening to your story and the story of others and the treatment course they chose is how everything you learn comes into better focus. Thank you!
