“The world is the true classroom” – Jack Hanna

Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead and care for.

Every leader no matter what the industry at one point in time in their life has passed through a classroom. Whether that was in elementary, middle, secondary or university classroom, teaching and learning are woven into the fabric of our world. The best leaders see teaching and learning opportunities all around us with the world as their classrooms.

The Harvard Business Review in one of their past reports states that many leaders do not grow because they overlook one or more attribute that is foundational to a leader’s mindset. The report asks the question of why many companies are not getting more for their leadership programs. With the many programs we have, we need to see more effectiveness. Simply stated, to be a great leader requires the right mindset.

In another Harvard Business Review article, it states that a mindset of learning from the world is a growth mindset. This means leaders can actively engage with real world issues and embrace all facets of any challenge as learning opportunities. In this reflective episode of Points of Leadership, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti and Mrs. Kristin Jaeck discuss some of the leadership lessons they have learned this year. From vulnerability, cross functional leadership to rapid technological advancement, this is a great episode to help leaders reflect on their year.

Lastly, they discuss the need for continuous learning, application and Dr. Feyi’s upcoming new book. As always, the leadership principles we share on Points of Leadership are for any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those they lead well through the overflow of his or her life. So, pull up a chair, call a friend and take a listen and share with any industry leader in your life.

  • Points of Leadership Episode 44: Leading For Sustainability
    Jul 23 2025

Quote: “Corporate culture matters. How management chooses to treat its people impacts everything for better or for worse.” --- Simon Sinek

Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead and care for.

Leadership sustainability is something that most Fortune 500 companies keep center focus on for long lasting impact of their services, products and customers. For example, Apple Inc has consistently ranked in the top 20 of the Fortune Global 500 list since 2013. This type of consistent impact is built and sustained through a corporate lens of excellence that trickles down to every aspect of the company and its culture.

In a 2023 Forbes article by former Forbes Council member Frayda Leibtag, one of the factors that contribute to an impactful sustainability is the power of celebrating success in the workplace. Leibtag states that while it's possible to navigate the workplace without mastering the art of sharing success, excelling in today's professional landscape and creating a positive work culture requires more than just participation; it demands being proactive about how companies communicate their own performance. The article further states that one of the most significant benefits of sharing success is cultivating a culture of celebration. Celebrating success in a company or team is a powerful way to bond, foster a sense of community and ensure fellow employees can feel the appreciation.

In this invigorating episode of Points of Leadership, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti and Mrs. Kristin Jaeck explore and discuss the value of prioritizing celebration as a leader for the benefit of the team, organization or company. They discuss some of the visible benefits of making celebration a viable culture that brings many inter-related returns. Such as boosting team morale, building a culture that attracts high performing team, and setting a positive tone of appreciation.

Lastly, they discuss the underlying psychological impact of leading for sustainability and the power of celebrating success in the workplace. As always, the leadership principles we share on Points of Leadership are for any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those they lead well through the overflow of his or her life. So, pull up a chair, call a friend and take a listen and share with any industry leader in your life.
