  • My Truth About Trichotillomania as a Christian Black Woman | Pod For Yah Girl
    Sep 25 2025

Trigger Warning: This episode contains discussion of Trichotillomania and visible scarring. Listener discretion is advised. Please take care of your heart and mind — pause or step away if this feels heavy. If you are in crisis, contact 988 (U.S. crisis line) or seek local support.

In this deeply personal episode, Nwugochi gets real about her journey with Trichotillomania — a condition that causes compulsive hair pulling. For the first time, she removes her wig and shows the scars she’s carried, choosing vulnerability over silence.

As Black women, we’re often told to be “strong” no matter what. But strength isn’t hiding our pain — it’s facing it. By speaking honestly about her struggle, Nwugochi challenges the “strong Black woman” stereotype and reminds us that healing begins with truth.

✨ In this episode you’ll hear:

    • Nwugochi’s raw testimony with Trichotillomania

    • Why vulnerability is key to healing and breaking stereotypes

    • How faith helps us face what we’ve been hiding

    • A word of hope for women carrying hidden battles

Sis, your scars don’t make you weak. God is close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and He can use even what you’ve tried to hide to bring freedom.

🎧 Tune in to Episode 48 of Pod For Yah Girl and join the conversation on healing, honesty, and breaking the myths placed on women of color.
