Plug Power (NASDAQ: PLUG), a global leader in comprehensive hydrogen solutions, has successfully loaded a Plug tanker with liquid green hydrogen from its Woodbine, Georgia production facility. The fill took place immediately after the plant officially commenced operations just one week prior. The liquid hydrogen, stored in a Plug cryogenic trailer, is designated for use at Walmart, Amazon, and Home Depot locations, with the capacity to fuel 3,216 forklifts daily.
With the ability to generate up to 15 tons of liquid green hydrogen per day, Plug's trailers will distribute the green hydrogen to customers using the company's expansive logistics network. Leveraging advanced cryogenic and liquefaction capabilities, Plug ensures the safe and efficient transport of green hydrogen. Notably, the company's liquid hydrogen tankers can carry up to 80,000 pounds at the maximum gross vehicle weight, a significant efficiency compared to delivering the equivalent amount of gaseous hydrogen, which would require approximately eight gas tube trailers.
Andy Marsh, CEO of Plug Power stated: “The first delivery of our green hydrogen molecule marks a critical milestone for the green hydrogen economy.”
Plug Power is building an end-to-end green hydrogen ecosystem, from production, storage and delivery to energy generation. The company has deployed more than 60,000 fuel cell systems and over 185 fueling stations, more than anyone else in the world.
