Pining for Pixels # 145 - Report Card: Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, February 5, 2026

Welcome to the Pining For Pixels podcast! This is my video game variety show podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a subject or theme that interests me, and I will speak about what is on my mind in the world of video games!

Report Card is a new segment for Pining for Pixels where I will be grading the platform holder/publisher direct presentations as they come up. I am launching this segment with the most recent Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase that aired on February 5, 2026. It was a long overdue showcase that confirmed the 3rd party situation for the Switch 2 is going to be strong. It contained some ports of existing games as one expects, but also some surprise announcements and some great demonstrations of upcoming technical showcase games. Despite that, there are many out there who were disappointed with this showing, for a number of reasons. Tune in to see what I thought of it!
